Converting my 883 Sporty to a Buellster. Using 1200 Buell cylinders, pistons and Thunderstorm heads. Want to compute my compression ratio, but need the piston dome volume of the stock Thunderstorm cast piston. Anyone have it? |

Putting Buell parts in a Harley will render them useless and completely non-functional. Please save Buell parts for Buell owners. |

Well, I did sell a set of forks to a guy over the winter to put on his Harley, and he loves them. Also has a ton of engine work and says he loves how the XB suspension and front wheel improved the handling. I don't have the piston specs like the OP was asking for though. |

Use a small syringe, put the valves in the closed position, fill your heads with the oil from the syringe, you can get the volume that way (of course if you've already assembled the top end... soorrry, I'm too late) |

While I hope a buell did not die just for that front end to be on there I actually think that bike looks nice. |

I am not a HD fan but I do like the one above. Very nice. Gympie the 1200 Buell/Sportster uses the same 3.812 inch stroke, so you should have the same compression as Buell using the thunderstorm based engine. BTW are you changing the cams and intake also? Later, Bart |

Same stroke and bore will not always mean same compression ratio - you also have to know combustion chamber volume. |

Unless the heads have been decked I don't see the difference. The only variable would be the gaskets. He is using stock Buell parts with the a the same stroke crank so what is different from the stock Buell? Not trying to be argumentative, I really must be missing something. |

Piston shape has to do with the compression right? If you use 9 pistons in a 12 it raises the compression? |

Looking up to see when the next Slimy Crud Run is, decided to look at the gallery. Cool a Mad Max bike, wait, what?!
