Does anyone have any experience with Helibar's triple clamp on their 'Bolt or Lighting? I wouldn't mind a little more aggressive set up. I may put a set on my '03 XB9S and make it my street/track day weapon and sell the Ducati. With a little one at home now, I barely have time to ride one bike, let alone two. Just a waste of insurance cash sitting real pretty like in the garage. Thanks and as always, ride safe.

This has been covered a bunch of times. Use the 'search' function and type in 'Heli' and you'll get plenty o' returns.

I haven't used the Heli's but since this is here, this is how my woodcrafts now look on my hybrid Lightingbolt.

Torqer,

How did you get the "R" triple clamp to clear the instrument pod and what did you do with the clutch cable?

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
Not to talk for Pete, but I've seen it and was very keen to find out what he did also.
He had to cut into the "fairing" to get it to fit.
The "fairing" also has a hole drilled in it to let the XBR cable in.
Also he had to whittle the key down to a nub so he didn't have to change the location of the key switch.
Looks really good.
I'm thinking of either clip-ons, or Clubman bars.
I keep finding myself trying to get lower and more forward...

Glitch I couldn't find a set of Clubman's that didn't cost you half your bar sweep. Everyone we testfit always hit the tank within a 1/4 turn of the bars. I take that back, the one pair of fully adjustables, the only setting that cleared had them bent at a very uncomfortable angle.

I will add the disclaimer I forgot to add in my pic post above. To get the bars to have enough fork to clamp to I had to move the triple tree down 1/2-3/4". This has made the steering even faster and a tad twitchy. Not as much as I expected but it is still there. I plan on using what Marcus has laid out on his site to see how much I can adjust out. It doesn't bother me that much, I can already compensate for it, but that is around town riding and not canyon carving as of yet. I am seriously thinking about a steering stabilizer also, both after a talk with Al at American Sport Bike and a spirited ride before I moved the bars over rough corners.

Thanks for the insight Wycked.
Here's what I was talking about Pete's bike.

I used Crossroads bars on my 9 before I sold it,
thought it worked really well, and I didn't have to change cables

After riding my XB9S with the stock bars on a few long trips, I was tired of "hanging on". I tried two different tubular style bars but they simply were not low or forward enough.

I then opted for the Crossroads bars for the XB9 and fell in love with them. They are well made, look good, and are comfortable.

The Crossroads do have their drawbacks: they are expensive, have a wide angle for anyone who has ridden a bike with true "clip-ons", and they put the clutch and throttle cables in a bind at the extremes of handlebar travel.

Buggie the stock bars won't clear the fairing at all. With the crossroads I had on temporarily there were a couple of clearance issues. With those bars I have no problems now that I have them adjusted well.
