T-Rex works fine for my needs, which sound similar to yours. I don't lift my bikes numerous times per week. If I did I would likely go with Bull Dog stands.

One note: I have the triple tree lift for the front, and can't seem to get it in there without taking the front fender off, or mashing on the fender. It's only a 4 bolt inconvenience, so not a big deal. It works just fine on my wife's Street Triple though.

+1 on the T-Rex.

It worked fine on my front. Really close though....

I use Pit Bull stands. Work on all my XB, 1125's, and Blast. Clearance is a little tight for the tree lift on the 1125R but it still gets in there fine without removing the fender.

is it safe to leave the bike on paddock stands for the winter months? are they designed to be able to do this ?

I have a nice cheap set. They work fine.

I wouldn't leave my bike running on them. Nor would I sit on the bike while it's on them.

Everything else is good.

Pit Bull. Never worried that my bike would fall during the off season. And......made in the good 'ol USA.

I like the reversible supports on these stands and I'm sure other stands have them as well. I use the non-spool side when removing the rear tire and the spool side any other time with no concerns around storage, sitting on it, etc.

As seen in another thread:

YMMV,

YMMV is the most important part of the discussion.

I'll chime in, and say that I use T-Rex stands for my winter storage method. I've used them on an XB12S, XB9R, SV650, honda 919, CBR600RR, and never had anything but good times.

Pit bull is a better quality, that's a fact, but the T-rex will do the job just as good.

Pit bull also pays contingency which is a HUGE plus if you race.

I've hopped on the bike while on the T-Rex with no worries. I've never been a feather weight either. Plenty sturdy for home use.

Pitbull front and back for me, happy with them both, not a fan of spool stands as they hinder the removal of the rear tire
