I am off to pick up my new (to me) bike in a week. Depending on which way I head, I have at minimum, a 6 hour drive on the bike. If I head the other way, a 22 hour drive. I know, quite a difference!!! I wont bore you with the details....... Any who, just curious as to what my butt can expect on my ride to temp storage or to home. Thanks!!! | ||

Froggy.....I think you missed my point. I just want to know how comfy people feel the stock TT seat is....that's all. I plan on getting a Corbin, I had good experiences with them in the past. So, I know what seat I want. If the stock TT seat is crap, maybe I will bring along a sheep skin/wool pad or something??? I dunno??? I just want to know what kind of ride I am getting in to. | ||

Bring something to sit on. The STT uses the same subframe as the SS, so you can only fit SS seats. Look for the SS touring gel seat. I have it, it is comfy all day. | ||

G4, send me a pm...you can come over and have a seat on mine, I have the stock TT solo seat on my Ss, as well as a custom touring seat by Baldwin seats. | ||

G4, 6-hour ride - you should be fine, even if the seat isn't perfect. If you're seriously thinking of the 22-hour ride, see if you can borrow an Airhawk inflatable pad or be prepared to stop along the way to buy an atv seat cushion etc. Not everyone likes them, so used Airhawks pop up for sale regularly on advrider, sport-touring.net etc. Not here though, probably because Buell seats are pretty darn good as they come from the factory. I have a Stt and I like the stock seat, but not for longer rides. I use it all the time around town & on a daily basis, but if I'm gonna be out 2 hours or more, I put on the Ss seat I have. I would not even consider my Stt seat for a 6 hour run; but that's just me. Its not that the seat is that uncomfortable, its just that there's not much room to re-adjust your seating position with it. If you push back a little, you hit the unpadded area pretty quick. I say get an Ss stocker or the touring seat. | ||

G4, I would say the seat is not terrible. I have taken a few 6 to 8 hours trips with no major problems. I bit sore, but that may just be from sitting for 6 to 8 hours... I think a 22 hour drive is up to your tail, not the seat. Also keep in mind the stock seat has little to no contours. It supports well, but no curves. Hope this helps. | ||

Never liked the stock seat due to the angled edge they used when shaping the side/top junction. The SS seat on the other hand is the best stock seat I have ever used. My wife believes it is the most comfortable seat for a passenger she has ever tried too and we have had many motorcycles over the years, mostly BMWs. When it is really warm out I use a beaded seat cover to help keep the monkey butt away. Have done many 6+hr rides on the SS seat. Would have been uncomfortable on the stock seat after a few hours but it wouldn't stop me from doing a 6hr ride on it if that was all I had. | ||

Do you need to make mods to the STT to put on the Ss seat? There's an 07 new STT at the local dealer I could get for a steal, but I'd like to be able to take folks two-up, if I get the notion. | ||

I got the dual seat kit with the bike when I bought my TT new, I rode it home (350 m) with the solo seat & put the dual kit on. I'm told it's the same as the stock ss seat & it's way more comfortable over a distance than the solo. That said, if you're going to play on it the solo is easier to move around on, but it's taller too. | ||

I have a STT, and like many others I switched to a stock SS seat almost right away. The STT seat is OK for a couple of hours, but the SS is much better for the day. |
