Seriously folks - he's asking about the small tube of activator that comes (or should come) with the pucks. You put it on the surface before sticking the puck down to get the best adhesion. I don't know (or remember) doing mine, but I THINK this is a 3M product. YOU MIGHT be able to contact 3M if it is. (Tick, you havea a PM - check your inbox) |

Your good Slaughter. I had NO CLUE with how that was worded. Still may want to check that blinker fluid though. |

i don't remember a tube when i put mine on, all it said to do was prepare the surface with rubbing alcohol and peel the sticker and put it on |

That's what I'm thinking - it may have been a simple solvent. I just don't have any record of just WHAT it was that was used. I can't recall the smell. If it was just a solvent/cleaner (kinda what I'm thinking) - you can just use a little light wipe of paint thinner, isopropyl alcohol or similar to clean the surface before peel-and-stick. |

IIRC it's not activator. just a cleaner/solvent. i assure you the pucks will still stick if the frame is cleaned with something else. wouldn't an activator mean that the adhesive is a 2-part epoxy? |

Check 3M's website- they have a lot of stuff like this that the sell to auto body shops. You might be able to find some in a local professional-type auto parts store (i.e.- NAPA or similar, not Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.). |

It is 3M™ Tape Primer 94. I have a tube of it in my hands. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Graphi cs/Scotchprint/Prod-Info/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE 3E02LECIE20S7M3_nid=73BWF2SKV8be2X45PZSQV2gl |

I just installed a set of pucks (frame sliders) and mine said to clean the area with isopropyl alcohol and let dry for 5min, then it had 2 tubes of the primer ( 1 for each side) that needed to be applied to just the contact area where the puck was to be placed. I know that the primer acctually turned my xb12r's frame/tank a milky greyish color when applied then as it dried it darkened back to almost the factory color ( about 1.5-2 shades lighter), then I applied the pucks. |

I may still have one only needed one of the two for my pucks when I did them. I'll look later today and see if I can find it. |

1. Try detergent like 409/Fantastic. 2. Then a solvent like isopropyl. 3. Stick with conviction. |

If I were you, I would not put those pucks on until you get the activator. It bascially softens the powdercoat for a short period of time so that when you stick the puck on, the idea is that the adhesive on the puck and the softened powdercoat creat a stronger bond so that the puck wont peel off in a lowside. For those of you who remember the early xb's they had an issue with the pucks popping off, this activator was the solution, and it works. |

Oh and by the way, here are the "ingredients" in the activator which 3M calls 94 Primer Cyclohexane Xylene Ethyl Alcohol Ethylbenzene Ethyl Acetate Acrylic Polymer Chlorinated Polyethlene And of course other great stuff that is sure to cause cancer |
