I wanted to have the look of the solo seat but didn't want to spend the cash to have the cover that American Sport Bike sells plus have it painted painted. So I had mine redone to make it appear as it is a solo seater. The upholstery shop charged me minimal and matched the red.

Is that a new layer of leather or did they stain the existing cover?

How have you liked the drummer... I'm on pins and needles waiting on mine, I should get it Monday.: )

Nice job Dana. That looks better than you described. Maybe we'll get to see it on Tuesday if our "40 Days" is finally up.

Do Buell's come with floatation devices?

I did the same thing on my X1W in white. I bought white vinyl at a fabric store, stapled on corner and used a blowdryer to heat and streched the material and stapled it I used the seat strap to cover the unfinished seam.Looks like a solo but still functions as a seat.

It looks pretty damn good. I like it.

I just ordered my Corbin custom seat last week and it's supposed to be delivered this Friday! It's carbon fiber black leather w/ yellow sides and yellow flames off the back. FYI, I have a yellow (obviously?) XB9S.

Hey what did you use to outline your letters on your tires? Bike looks great, I on the other hand spent the cash on the solo cowl from American sport bike. My 9 is black so just didn't work with the seat, but yours looks sweet.buell2

Blair I used A paint marker called(PAINTERS). The letters hold up really well and only takes like 20 min to apply.I've tried many different markers and these seem to be top notch. They sell them at Walmart and some art supply store or hobby stores.Made by Hunt Corporation.Hope this helps ya.BTW if you find them I used the medium tip marker.

Thanks for the compliments on the seat.I had some mixed feelings about it right after I did it but now I dig it.

Yeah if you had of got the cowl seat you may of had second thoughts about it too. For instance with mine as follows.

Needed Paint- not too big a deal, jet black from a friend of a friend's body shop $20 Canadian, about $16 U.S. Base/Clear almost perfect.

Not a perfect fit- about an hour with a dremel (us a mask, that stuff if fiberglass, don't want it in your lungs)

Pain in the ace to fit- want a passenger to go for a ride, much easier to buy an extra seat then try and pull that sucker off after you install it

Dosen't latch at the rear- Fits extra tight, but won't latch with the added material of the cowl between it and the rear seat frame section. Sucks to try and remove it too, takes a lot of muscle, with the bike in gear, and one foot pushing against the kickstand to stop it from rolling backwards.

But looks good overall!

I think I read somewhere here that they had to really work with cowl to make it fit.I have to admit it looks cool though.
