We have just had the first prototype of our new polished aluminium airbox cover delivered and it is drop dead gorgeous! Price is yet to be fixed, and the final article will be available with louvres in the top. The photos really don't do it justice

MMmm, Cafe' Racer. Trojan, I may become single before it's all over with. Any pics with it on the bike? Looks lovely. |

Just make sure it's a reasonable price. OK it looks sexy, but it's only a piece of aluminium. D |

Ha! A local dealer (Cool Springs HD/Buell) has a used/demo 12R with all of the plastic pieces chromed out: airbox, tail section, front fairing, chin spoiler. I am almost afraid to demo ride it on a bright, sunny day! I'll try to snap some pics of it the next time I see it. The first time I saw it I thought *bling*bling*not for me; but, YMMV! |

it may be "only a piece of aluminum" but you'd be sirprised at the amount of effort needed to take a sheet and make it look like that . . . .. gorgeous work |

Oh, I know, but all I have seen since owning a Buell is over priced parts. It seems that just because it's Buell part, people can throw on a 50 - 100% mark up. I will reserve judgment until Matt releases a price. D |

hmmmm . . . .well, I own a tuber, and all the parts I've seen are either pretty average in price, or flat out bargains! I've paid little attentiont ot he price for XB series parts, though, and they could be very different |

Honestly I have noticed that XB parts run pretty damn comparable to the equivelent parts to other brands and more often then not quite a bit lower then anything for an HD. Hell I even proved to my insurance company it would be cheaper to repair my XB in a front end wreck then it would be to replace the same pieces on my Ninja. |

I agree with Wycked... replacement parts are pretty inexpensive. Aftermarket stuff doesn't generally seem too bad (except carbon-fiber). |

We will obviously try our best to keep the price to a competitive level. These are laboriously hand beaten then hand polished, so they ain't gonna be bargain basement. We have yet to agree a price with our supplier so can't even give a guesstimate on cost yet. The reason that some Buell aftermarket parts are more expensive is simply a matter of volume. If you make parts for the Jap market you can spread the development cost etc over a far greater number of units sold than you ever could with a niche product such as Buell. Frankly it still surprises me even now just how much is available for the Buell market given the potentially low returns (not that I'm complaining mind). |

It does look cool, but not quite practical. If my bike was a show bike, and I had the WHOLE bike done in that? Maybe. But damn, you wouldn't believe my regular bug death toll every day, I would HATE to have to keep that shiny chrome looking thing clean! I guess if you don't ride that much its kewl though. } |

I bet the airbox cover will cost about 3 times the cost of the paint and supplies. The color you bought is going to look great anyway. |

"It seems that just because it's Buell part, people can throw on a 50 - 100% mark up." I chuckle whenever I hear that common type of remark. The answer, if it's such a huge markup... go make one yourself. If it's that much of a markup, the competition will soon be knocking on the door with something better/cheaper. Very nice work Matt. How much for "Buell" tank labels in gold inlay? |

Traction grips for the Buell: $16 for a pair Stock Replacement rubber grips for an HD: $40 I think Harley is the King of Markup. They made 250,000 bikes last year with those very grips on each one, you think they would be cheaper and I aint even mentioning anything about $149 billet grips |

420 - I agree. The XB would look dope all chromed out. But I wouldn't want it for my commuter. My bike is my runner. Far from a show bike. I have saddle bags and the seat from Buell, "custom seat", not winning any shows. But its fun in the canyon commute! |

The Ilmberger carbon is in a very tight, small weave very much the same as our own stuff. As such it is quite hard to show the weave pattern at the kind of photo quality that is allowed on here. Here is a pic of the heel guards close up anyway.
