Don't know how good your dealer is, but Here is a list of items in the oil pump and pump return circuits: have you checked by phone with our sponsors? Have you tried Chicago Harley? 26510-08 Oil Pump Assy(looks like a housing in the parts book) 26547-08 Gerotor Set, Feed 26546-08 Gerotor Set, Return 26568-08 Seperator Plate 26560-08 Cover Gasket 2577-08 Cover, Oil Pump 25353-00YB Gasket, Gearcase I am assuming you have checked it out and it is not a oil pressure switch or other electrical problem, by actually installing a pressure gage on the engine in place of the switch. I have never heard of an 08+ pump fail! Husky |

On a 2010 it's at the dealer for warranty work so I doubt he has done much checking into what parts are actually bad. I would contact HD customer service and ask what is going on, someone is giving someone a run around and it might be up to you to figure out who is at fault. Could be supply chain, could be warranty pay back to the dealer, could be a few other things. |

I would think if the oil pump went under warranty, that you would get a new engine. Especially if the oil pump is direct drive from the cams like that. |

No Husky I didn't check anything. It's under warranty so I didn't want to give them the chance to say I caused the problem and voided warranty. So the full story goes like this.... About 850 km on the bike oil starts to leak out one of the bolts on the oil pump body . location shown in pic.
I make an appointment to get the bike in to be looked at takes 2.5 weeks to get it in. 3 days after i drop it off a guy i know is in the dealership and asks whats wrong with my bike . they tell him small crack in the oil pump. 1 week after i dropped it off i call and ask when ill get it back . still nothing done and no part ordered . Couldn't get any info out of them besides that they have to order a part and don't know when ill get it. 2 weeks after i dropped it off , was told part was ordered, maybe another week. 3 weeks since i dropped it off...I go in to the dealership and ask the status once again. They say part is ordered but on back order. Nobody knows when it will be available. I ask when it was ordered...find out part wasn't ordered until 2 weeks after they had the bike. They said they had to find out if it was covered under warranty. Anyway 3 weeks have gone by, not once did they ever call and let me know the status .Bike has been out of commission for 5.5 weeks . At this point Im not sure I'll see it this summer. I guess I'll have to call HD customer service and see what is going on. No_Rice you can see in the database that the part is available ? What do you guys think about what Natexlh1000 said...should i be pushing for a new engine and not just the pump to be replaced ? Cheers for the help |

Did you buy it from that dealer? |

No, got it from a guy in Sudbury, has a Barrie HD keychain. I'd say it came from the same dealer as yours did. |

In Canada, all the dealers are a problem. |

Even though I haven't had any issues with the same dealer as of yet. It is really starting to make me nervous about the time when I do need parts. If I run into the same issues, as much as I love my Buell I will have to look real hard at keeping it. From my observations so far at Mark's problem it seems his problems are coming from the same person who has always been the issue at this dealer. Up until a few weeks ago he was the owner. With the ownership change I hope the new management soon realizes the damage this guy has done. (Message edited by phazernut on July 14, 2010) (Message edited by phazernut on July 14, 2010) |
