My clutch cable just snapped right as I was pulling into my parking spot at work. What would be quickest, cheapest, easiest way to get a new one? I don't got a car, so this is how I get around. Gotta try and fix it ASAP. Thanks in advance for the advice! |

Local dealer would be your fastest route by far. Be sure to be very very careful when replacing it No sense in doing it twice. |

You might try putting a cable tie around the end of cable and holder thing before removing it. That might keep the holder thing from dropping into the oil. When you look in the cover plate at the cable you'll see what I'm suggesting that you do. The holder thing has to rotate very far to come out of the clutch mechanism and as soon as it lets go the clips flips it off and into the oil. I think attaching a cable tie around the end of the cable and that holder thing might prevent the holder from getting away (still just a theory since I don't want to fiddle with my cable again to try it out. |

American Sport Bike usually has them in stock and can overnight it to you. In the mean time, learn to ride without a clutch. As long as you don't hit traffic you are good |

Not much you can do at a stop sign without the clutch, not sure if the starter would handle a first gear to engine running start. |

Thanks for the input guys, I actually went and ordered one from American Sport Bike right after I posted. Got the cable, fluid, gaskets and some of those torx screws. Parts total was like $71, they nailed me on the air shipping though which was about $55. I guess it was worth it though, i had the parts in hand about 36 hours later, on the bike in 2 hours. Thanks American Sport Bike! Don't know about all that cable tie stuff, it's actually pretty easy to just pull the whole release mechanism off and disconnect the cable while holding it outside the primary altogether. No fallsies then. As far as no clutch riding goes, I think I could handle it once I was rolling. I've shifted clutchless a handful of times ok, but i'd be f'ed if I had to stop. And I would definitely hit traffic, I live in Houston. |
