Yes. You will make a mess of it. Flat footing is over rated anyway, you've only got your feet down about 1% of the time on your bike....make it comfortable for the riding time, not the 1%. |

I'm 5'3" tall, and have never been flat footed, on any bike, cept my brothers Low Rider (worn out shocks). I have lowered several bikes in the past, all of which looked real cool, and handled like crap (wobble at speed, shake in the head, erratic cornering, etc.) .... bottom line... don't, live with the tip toes has been best for me, lowered bikes lose a lot in the compromise, and are ussually a little dangerous. |

Get a your seat lowered by an upholstry shop. THats what Im in the process of doing. The shop I am working with has this stuff called pro pad.Im sure some people on here are familar with it. Its just a fancy name for a gel pad. It looks like its gona lower me down about a good two inches. I am about 5'10 and I am up on the balls of my feet at a redlight, so i feel ya bud. They wanted to charge me about 140$ to do it,but i think I might have found another shop that will do it for less. Justun |

CityX is a regular height suspension, right? It should be an easy switch to an SCG suspension. Then it will handle great. My wife's SCG is a riot to ride! It feels so much more nimble than my Firebolt and especially the Uly. |

I'm 5'3" and ride an XB12s...I do have the "low" seat on it...there is NO WAY I can touch ground on both sides at once unless my wheel are in a rut...it takes some getting used to, 'specially for someone who rode drag bikes only for years (with their 20" seat height and 2" ground clearance)...Usually it is no problem at all... |

Contrary to what everyone says as most are just repeating what they read on here and not what they have personally experienced. As long as you lower the front and back evenly it will not cause problems. I have put 8k miles on my bike and it is lowered the worst possible ways(modified shock/raised forks in triple trees) and it still takes the curves just fine. I am 5'7" and can stand flat footed on my 9R, it makes a huge difference when having to walk the bike backwards or on inclines. |

thanks for all the input. i will look into the 12scg set up, or just live with the tips. its light enough to move around, but i was used to my old cbr that i could flat at stops and hold it with out break on incline. |

Actually you should always wear boots when you ride!

Terrys1980- How did you modify your rear shock? |

I cut off the spring adjuster and welded a flat washer in its place to allow the spring to sit down further on the shock. |

Demarsico, I just picked up an '03 XB9SL (Low) that I will be raising up to standard height. Not sure if you can use the forks/triples but all the other parts should be a direct swap (shock, seat, kickstand). Bet this forum is the place to find out! Let me know if interested in parts or swaps. |

I don't know about twitchy, but it does make the rear softer. |

Other people on the forum have just traded with each other. I think a couple of guys were trying to meet somewhere in the middle and have a shop do the work. It should only take a couple of hours in a shop with lots of tools and equipment. |

Soon as I can find a Select seat, my low seat will be up for sale. Meanwhile, if anyone wants to swap a standard seat straight across for my low seat, that'd be OK too. |

I've been wanting to lower my 12R also. I have an '08 and don't want to change the triples and go to smaller diameter forks. What are the differences between the standard and low forks internals? Is it possible to have a suspension shop change springs and valving? Then swap rear shock with the Scg? |
