What going on guys installed DDM tunning HID KIT low and high beam, the light is intermittent comes on and goes back off i will be riding for a while and them all of a sudden the light will just go off for about 30 seconds or sometimes longer and then cut back on i have the 35 watt ones and they are hooked up to the original headlight wire do you think that could be the problem the DDM tunning wires are a lot bigger then the stock ones are really need to get this fixed. thanks for your help |

Maybe you need to install relays. |

The stock wiring is sufficient for 35w HIDs. It sound like a bad or loose connection. If you check the connections and the problem still exists it may be a bad ballast. How long have you had them installed? Are both lights doing this? |

Dwight, is it both lights?(that would lead me to look first at the incoming power or ground), or is it one light? (that would lead me to look first at a ballast, did you solder connections, (if you used crimp connectors, carefully check each one). If everything was good before the install, most likely the stock stuff is fine, the load on the system once the lights are lit for a minute is less than the stock setup, they use a bit more power when they first come on, but not as much as the stock setup. 1) check all connections(crimps, or solder) 2) put on your riding gloves(or other gloves), and with the ballasts loose, shake em around a bit, with the lights on, see if they flicker. tell us if its one or both lights, and people can give more specific methods for diagnostics |

I think it may be a problem with the ballast. |

I'd say the ballast |

Hmmmmm. I'd say I'd come take a look but VA beach is way too far from MD. Undo everything, and try it again. |

Do both the high and low beam turn on and off intermittently? or just the low beam? |

I called DDM tunning and they said that it might be the stock wires cant handle the intial load of the wire and require this relay http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/HID-Kit-Wiring-H arness and it should fix it if not i can just send them the ballast and have them check it out. and this is the issue the low beam turns on fine but after a little while the light shuts off for about 1 to 5 minutes or i have to shut the bike off and back on and then it will not do it again. i also have the high beam but if i run that it will shut the lights off too. it is driving me nuts |

That's weird. Because the only time it should be cutting off if it were to overload would be initial startup of the lights, thats when the ballasts temporarily draw a huge amount of power to "ignite". If you go with relays, I did it for mine a month ago and cvan give ya some help. It was a PITA but not as complicated as I thought it would be first looking at it. I got 2 h3 relay harnesses and did some light hacking/soldering with them got them both on ebay for $17 shipped. You'll need a relay and fuse for each light if you got this route. |

You can do a simple test by connecting the ballast power and ground leads directly to the battery with some 10 gauge jumper leads to see if in fact the ballast is the issue or the stock headlight wiring. |
