My friend is looking at a 2005 XB12R. It is black/gold wheels but comes with 2nd set of red plastics. The bike has only 1020 miles on it. I know the guy that owns it bought it and then was in and out of town for long periods of time and the bike sat. He came back in May and put about 325 miles on it in a month. I was told it was maintained by the local HD dealer. The question is, how much should he pay for this bike and do you recommend this model? I have a P3, S2 and XB12scg so I am not familiar with this model. |

Cant really tell without looking at it. 2 1/2 yrs ago I paid 5500 for my 05 R with 6200 mi, and it was a perfect bike. No scratches or anything. |

I just paid 4,000 for a 2005 xb12r with 5,000 miles on it from a private seller. Has the race kit, open air box mod, penske rear shock and ohlins stabilizer. I think I got an awesome deal. |

I should also state that I dumped mine on the test ride. It didn't leave with much negotiation room. |

I already checked Kelly blue book and others but given how cheap the new bikes are being sold for, I wasn't sure how accurate them may be now. However, since I first posted this, the owner of the bike called me to come over and see it after their son apparently had knocked it over. So, now they have to replace the clutch and the rest of the damage she will take off the asking price. It has to have the turn signal replaced, the high beam flash button and the knob at the end of the handle bar is missing, and probably my biggest concern is the grey piece around the instruments is cracked. I could not tell what this piece was made of or if it was structural or not. Can this just be glued back together or does it need to be replaced? Can anyone tell me what the part numbers may be for the above listed parts so we can figure how much it will cost to replace them and deduct from the offer. |

Fairing support bracket is made of magnesium. You can buy a new one for $120 or get a like new takeoff from Erik Buell Racing cheap. Turn signal is something like $10, bar end plug $2, clutch lever $40, left switches $30. I forget the actual prices, but those are close. Have them knock $500 off and you will be good. |

Deduct another $500 for having a H-D dealer eff it up (service it). What are they asking for it ? |
