OK. Well, I just had to buy my 5th rear tire. 15,665 miles. I rode in 30 miles to the shop on the steal belt I have been told that my average tire life in 3000 miles...so I am about right on there, but damn. $200 every time. At my rate, thats like every month or month and a half. Basically get service and uh oh yeah, while your there throw on a new tire too. You may be asking what kind of tire I use? Pirelli Diablos. The are really nice too. Stick like glue through the canyons, even through dirty area. BUT I was looking into the colored tires...for fun. Anyone tried those yet? http://www.cycletires.com/ |

Yes, and the verdict was they are @#%&. Do a search for colored tires. As for tire life, I'm only on my 3rd set in 15K, but I have no corners to carve other than the odd ramp. I'll be replacing the D207 stockers (second set, don't ask) with Diiablos or Sportecs come September for the Running the Ridge tour. |

Ask Koz5150 about them colored tires! Or use the search and type in "colored tires" and search the Quickboard within the last 30 days. Not a good idea. Stick with the Pirellis.... |

1.8 tires in 4K miles. I couldn't afford a new tire when the first one went so the local Honda shop gave my one that someone had used for a long burnout. The center was worn a bit but nearly new on the sides. I fixed that really quick and then threw on a set of Metzeler Sportec's (love em BTW). |

Try the Diablo Sports instead of the Corsa's, you might get another 1500 from them for slightly less cash Frs_tyms |

Still on my first set. 5200 miles and my riding buddy said I am riding the bike too easy, I shoulda worn the first one out by now! Not yet to the wear indicators, but it will not be long. I am 50 years old, and probably riding too easy, But as I like to say "It's all fun and games until someone breaks a hip!" For the hard chargers, I am observing about a 3000 mile life between rear tires. I am actually shocked I have over 5000 miles on my rear! I should be ashamed of myself!!!

My first set of stock tires lasted 7500+ miles and I could have probably squeaked another 500 out of them. No roads worth tearing them up over here. The second set were D208s specifically for the NE Tour and they were toast by the time I got back (3008 miles, right on schedule). Now I'm back on another set of stock D207s due to extenuating circumstances and I just haven't felt the need to replace them yet. Tucson - 60+ words per minute when I really get flying! However, this damned laptop's keyboard is so messed up that it then takes me three times as long to go back and correct all the ghosted and missed letters! For example, when I really get cooking, the word 'you' often comes out 'yoyouoouuu'. It'd be funny if it wasn't so frustrating! |

2nd set, needing a 3rd rear. Never really used the OEM's, I got like 1500 baby miles one em and switched out to a tire I could trust on the track a little more. 3 or 4 track days and a bunch of commuting later, I gotta replace the rear (Sport Tech) |

LOL...damn you, Glitch! Those little smileys are too fricking funny. Where do you come up with these? While I was on the NE tour my bike developed an annoying front end wobble and brake pulsation that nothing short of replacing the entire assembly would cure (feel free to insert subtle disparaging comments hear, I certainly got enough of them while I was going through the whole process). When I finally got it back, it had a nice new D207 stocker on the front and I couldn't see spending the money for another whole set of tires, so I just bought the stock rear to go with it (I don't particularly like the idea of mixing an matching tires, especially since anything else I'd have bought would have out-stickied the front). Of course, that one stock rear D207 cost me nearly $185 installed, so for another $75 I could have gotten a new set of D208s...live and learn. |

OK, For those of us who cannot afford new tires every 3000K, what would be a good sugestion? Stick to the d207's or 8's? I've got about 4500k on the stock dunlaps. I'm with Darthane, not a whole lot of twisties around here. I'm travel'n through north west Iowa this weekend. Maybe I'll find a few twisties there... g u s |

Why don't you guys run the sticky front/hard rear? Here's a few to consider: Metzeler Sportec M-1/MEZ-6 Dunlop 208/220 Bridgestone 014/020 Avon 49/46 Michelin Pilot Power/Pilot Road

BigJ - I'll get there eventually, most likely the D208/D220 pairing. When I go on tours, I want good, sticky tires, such as the D208 set I used before. I was very impressed with them, even (especially) in wet weather. For running around Michigan, though, a D220 should give me much, much better life and not sacrifice too much grip once heated up. |

3 rear, 2 front, 12000 miles. The breakdown: D207U rear 5000 miles D207U front 7500 miles D208 rear 5000 miles D208 front 4700 and counting Pirelli Diablo rear, 2000 and counting. It started with 7/32nds of tread depth and has 5/32nds left. I may try Avon's next. I've gotten GREAT mileage from Avon tires on my Harley. My stock Dunlop front on the HD was gone at 9000 miles, I replaced it with an Avon Venom X, which has 20,000 miles on it and is nearing the wear indicators. FWIW |

1000 miles nail in rear, 3100 miles rear, 3700 miles front, 5200 rear, all on stock dunlop d207s now at 6200 Iam ready to install Pirelli Diablos. Trying to stash some cash to have my wheels powdercoated while they are dismounted. 5000 on original tires? Have you been over 3000 RPMs yet? |

ok - so you guys talked me out of the blue ones... although I had a friend in the UK swears by them. I already went and got a new Diablo rear. I have a free front sitting in my closet, I need to get it mounted soon. Not a sport, not a corsa, just a plain ole Diablo just like I have been using. I like them very much. Ortega - I hear Ortega is a fun road... You ever cruise up north? I live near MAgic Mountain. I ride into the Santa Monica Mountains mostly on the weekends though. |

I'm on my second set of Dunlops.. Got just under 2K on the current set, but that included a track day.. I'm changin' 'em again, since I can feel it now in 'mild' leans so it's that time.. Hey, if I can get at least a season out of a set, I guess I should be happy. I've read some of you guys really tear 'em up compared to me. So I'm happy with the Dunlops, but am thinking of a Metzler possibly next time.. Later.. |

I just swapped out the stock dunlops for the diablos a couple of weeks ago. My bike had 2500 miles on it when I got it, but the tires wouldn't have lasted past 3500. I really like the diablos. We'll see how long they last. |

I have gotten better mileage out of my Diablo's then I did out of the stockers. Swapped out the stock at 2500 due to bad wear, not worn out just cupping on both front and rear. The Diablos are at the 2500 mark now and look to go another 2500. That is with the same type of riding as the stockers got. Actually I take that back, the Diablos have a couple more canyon runs then the stockers did. |

In 7,000 mi. I've gone through 3 207's, each lasting about 2,300 mi and one front. I've just switched over to the Metzler Sportec M1. So far I'm very impressed. The Dunlops never felt real good in tight, low speed manuvers, and weren't real sure footed on loose surfaces. Not a good trait in these parts as many intersections will have sand strewn about right where you need to be. The M1's do MUCH better in both respects. Only have 500 mi. on them as of now so I can't comment on wear, but even if they wear at the same rate as the Dunlops, I'm still ahead as the M1's are almost half the price of a D207. |

Well my stock tire had a big hole in it from road debris at 3,000 miles and it was getting down to needing replaced anyway. Changed to Azaro-ST 45 & 46 and even though they are sport touring tires they are plenty sticky for me, currently on 12,500 miles on the Avon's and need to replace the rear. The front still looks like it has another 12,000 to go on it. So that is 9,500 on the rear not bad.
