Just use the new H-D/Buell approved synthetic for both and go for a ride. There is no "best", just use something good with no documented bad side effects and keep it fresh.

What Mike said. Just don't use Redline Heavy Shockproof in your tranny.

I like synthetic Motul. Good stuff. There have been some reviews of synthetic oils in some of the recent magazines. heck into that. I forgot which one. But I was at my shop and they showed it to me. At the time I was using the Screaming Eagle Tri Syn stuff. Yeah well, it got a rating similar to a low grade conventional oil. You better believe I took that crap out! LOL

My shop suggested Motul, it was ranked #2. Right under Mobile 1.

Good luck : )

When it comes to oils, the overwhelming majority will agree that you should use a synthetic oil, never dino oil. Use the same oil that is the recommended weight in both the engine and primary/trans. Best brand of oil questions and car vs. moto-specific oil questions really boil down to personal preference. Most synthetic oils will perform well if you change the oil and filter when they need to be changed.

Read the help files for doing a search. You must have done something wrong if you couldn't find information on the BadWeb about oils.????

Mike.

I don't think he used the actual Search function, just perused the Archives.

If you DO do the search, do NOT just put in 'oil'. Crap, that search would take days to complete. Try something more specific, like "recommended oil xb synth" and make sure that it is set to 'and' before clicking Search.
