This spring, my ACC fuse has blown twice ('07 XBS, 8k miles). It kills the dash and the turn signals, but not the engine. Thanks Erik, there is a 10A spare in the block and I have a few in my toolbag now. Have others had this problem and is it another chafing wires deal?

There were some early problems with chafing on a sharp horn bracket, and some later ones around the steering neck. Also, if you route the ECM wire bundle wrong on an S bike, it can rub on the battery terminal lead and put stealthy little "micro-nicks" in them and cause all sorts of oddness.

While we are talking apples and oranges, I had the same problem on my '01 X-1. After much hunting, unplugging various electric bits, ect, nothing worked. And the problem was maddingly (sp?) random.

Re-routed the portion of the main harness that leads to the turn signal flasher and rear brake light switch to avoid a sharp bend across the top of the oil tank, and that cured the problem.

So as Reepi suggests, look at the harness, esp for sharp bends. And keep in mind the chafing can be inside a wire bundle.

Hope this helps, Dave

I had a different cause for the same symptom on my XB12Ss. It ended up being the tail light bulb had come loose inside the housing. Fixed the tail light by bending the contacts to hold the bulb tighter and the fuses stopped blowing.

All good suggestions. Re the wiring going to the headlight assembly, if you pull off the flyscreen and look up where the wiring heads up to the headlights, then you may see a pinch/rub condition when turning the steering full left or right. The euro running light wire (unused on US xb's, unless you are using it to run both headlights on at the same time) has been known to pinch there with full steering head turns.
