Before i did my mods my stock 2010 XB 12 scg hit near 230 Km/h (142 mph) now whit my Jardine and Erik Buell Racing race ECM the bike cut off at 200 km/h (125 mph) Why ?? |

I have a few of theories. 1. Its in the timing of the new race ECM. 2. These ECMs are for track use so top speed is not the primary concern. 3. The bikes they are using for tuning are probably chain driven with different size sprockets. 4. It could be because the Jardine is too free flowing, but I seriously doubt it would cause a drop that big. Did you get the Jardine specific Erik Buell Racing ECM? i have never heard of that on any race ecm before including the ebr ones. you said it cut off as in just stopped or similar to hitting a limiter? id place money on the fact its not DESIGNED to do that. either something was programmed wrong or something else is wrong. im not a fan of jardines, but you arent going to lose THAT much power because of it |

im not a fan of jardines, but you arent going to lose THAT much power because of it I'm with Mr. Rice on this one. Besides, the power you lose with a Jardine is in the bottom and midrange, not the topend. |

I will ask Erik Buell Racing about that ! its probably in the programming setup of the ecm.And i dont think that i lost any power my bike feel more agressive ! take a look on American Sport Bike dyno chart..The only problem with Jardine its the many backfire on decel..For the rest its sound like hell.Just need fine tuning on the ecm. |

I would say you forgot to put it in 5th gear! Joke. But really, the Erik Buell Racing ecms show most improvement from mid range to redline and you should find perfectly matched RPMs/speeds shared between the two ecms unless you made a tranny/final-drive mod. All a calibration change would do is make you accellerate faster. |

Is the rev limiter reduced on the new ECM? That seems like the ONLY reason it would have a lower top end. Unless you changed the gearing, then the RPMs are the only other thing that will control top speed. |

2. These ECMs are for track use so top speed is not the primary concern. Really? On the track speed is not there primary concern? What is... Finishing? |

As JohnyLunchBox suggested....have you done a TPS reset? |

Nope, top speed is for the Daytona left-turn Louies and their 200mph circle tracks. When you take an F1, Gran Prix or "typical" motorcycle course (i.e. not a circle track), acceleration and handling become far more important than top speed. In a course with 12 turns and 1 long straight, if the faster (top speed) bike gains 0.1 sec on you in that long straight and you gain 0.01 sec on him in either the corners or short straights, you win. Because you gain 0.02 sec on him on every lap due to better acceleration or handling. |

Brinton, you're leaving out quite a bit in your analogy. |

maybe I should go buy a busa for the track then its a 200mph bike, guaranteed win right?(this is my sarcastic smiley) |

I've hit 145mph with my ebr ecm, drummer, and K&N. I have an 08scg. |

I also have hit 145 on my 09 12r. Confirmed by radar. And ticket for proof. |

what are the chances you get caught going top speed, talk about bad luck. |

Gotta love it when you run through a speed trap that you had no idea about. |

Very true. I am neither a racer nor an engineer. Was trying to come up with an analogy that was short and got the idea across correctly, i.e. that far more time is spent in accel, decel and cornering than at max speed. And to also do it without getting in over my head and talking out my other end... (Message edited by brijasher on June 21, 2010) |
