I changed the oil in my Uly for the first time today (979 miles) both primary and motor oil and adjusted the primary chain which was pretty loose. Now I'm getting a sort or sqeal from the motor at lower RPM's in gear or not. I'm thinking I adjusted the primary too tight?... If it might make a difference I used Valvoline Motorcycle 4Stroke SAE 20W-50 in both holes. Used just 3 quarts to get the levels where the book says in the primary and doing a check as most on here do for engine oil (hot bike running on kickstand). Here is a link to a place online that sells the oil I used: http://www.amazon.com/Valvoline-VV743-4-Stroke-20W -50-Bottles/dp/B0006305C4 |

Primary adjustment would be my first guess but I would start by checking the fluid level... should only be about 1 qt in primary and 2.5 in the engine. |

My first guess would be the primary chain is too tight. Also make sure you check it at it tightest spot. It's a bit of a PITA, but you don't want it binding in the tight spots. I'm confused by... Used just 3 quarts to get the levels where the book says in the primary and doing a check as most on here do for engine oil (hot bike running on kickstand). I hope that didn't mean 3 quarts in the primary. The primary should only get 1 quart. |

Used only about 1/2 quart in the primary and it brought it up to the bottom of the clutch pack, as the picture in the owners manual shows... I'll check it again before I head home from work. |

When changing primary fluid: Drain, adjust, check o-ring, put the plug back in, dump the WHOLE quart in. The primary fluid level is not extremely critical. If it various by an ounce or 2 its OK. But put the whole quart in and call it good. |

Should be filled to the bottom of the clutch pack with the bike upright. On the side stand it will spill some out. |

My primary ends up at the correct level with a quart installed and the bike upright. I make sure to lean the bike to each side a few times to make sure all of the old fluid is out. It sounds like the chain is to tight to me. Check the adjustment a various points to verify adjustment at the tightest point. |
