Y'know, I thought I might have a bearing issue, but the more I ride, the more I think it's something else. From 70 mph up, my engine takes on a different "feel", a rougher, stronger vibration. As long as it's been going on, it should have broken by now if a part was failing. And it's not THAT noticeable. I'm wondering if this is a normal thing to experience. Anyone else notice a difference in the feel of their engine once it gets to a certain speed?

It's hard to tell when sitting still and holding the throttle... the whole thing rattles and roars when I do that!

Try down shifting and see if the problem still occurs. Also trying getting up to speed, squeeze the clutch and shut the engine off and coast. If it is an engine issue it would go away when you do this. If not, it is probably something else.

Should be consistent with RPM not speed for an engine issue. If it is speed and not engine then look toward transmission and wheels.

As far as rpm goes, my 9R definitely shakes differently at higher RPM than at lower and the engine takes on a different tone too once I get above 4500 or so rpm.

My Blast made a noise....sort of "clattery" at part throttle in the mid Rpm range....My XB makes the same noise, only twice as much...so it's gotta be something in common....I'm used to engines that only make noises when they are broken. I took my XB back to the shop the weekend after I bought it....the mechanic rode it and remarked that his was noisier...I'm still not entirely comfortable with it, but it still has 2.5 years of warranty left...

And....my old Blast vibrated MUCH less than my XB..

Check all your header bolts and exhaust clamps. I lost both a header nut and an exhaust clamp nut before I noticed they were missing.

One of my Buell’s runs rough between 3500-4200 RPM regardless of engine speed. Looking at the fuel map in ECMSpy you can see the fuel cells lean out significantly in the 3400 and 4000 RPM columns. Data Logging and an LC1 w/WB resolved all issues.

Sounds like a tire out of balance. Mine gets smoother the faster I go.
