7 hrs labor and 150 for parts??? How much cheaper would it be to the people at Verlichi in Italy welding the frames together to do four extra welds to put these mounts on as STOCK?

Jose I'm still debating it.But if the bike goes down to replace the frame I'm looking at 1400 just for the frame. So in some way 600 can be a small price to pay.Hell I think you'll spend half of that on those carbon fiber covers??? |

I've seen the welded on mounts up close on a bare frame. You could probably get them put on by the manufacturer, but don't expect to see it happen anytime soon. Now watch them show up on bikes in August.... Badxb1, Any idea what the parts are included in that $150? |

Speaking of welding stuff on; is sure would be nice with threaded bosses for swingarm spools... hint, hint. Henrik |

If you're going that far just do a package deal walkaround and ask about all slide protection and additional parts like Henrik mentioned above. Once you're down to bare frame and welding you might as well take advantage of the downtime. Just depends on your eventual goals. There's two guys in the shop I'd talk to, one's medium heavy, and one's medium old, don't know their names though just have spoken with them about options a few times. I'd still like to crawl back up into the caged storage area again, there was a dusty project up there I'm still curious about. Someday maybe when funds and time coincide. |

Mike everything I'm doing is whats on the race bike. What Henrick mentioned is spools for the swingarm for lifting the bike I would think??But the price is for the complete kit as they called it. |

Yep, that's what Henrik was talking about. (I think.) If you're getting the whole package then the $150 for parts is probably a good deal. I was just pricing out the trap door option last year, didn't get into the weld-ons. The "parts" also may include the inner liner goop stuff. |

Dunno, just did a search for a picture of a trapdoor. I'm not even sure what it does. Maybe let you have a six speed? |

Gitch the trapdoor allows you to access the trans without having to split the cases. So if you need to change gearing its easier to do at the track rather then having a couple of engines built with different trans gearing. |

There has never been a Buell XB at the Guggenheim. There was a Blue one at the New York Premiere of the Guggenhiem. By the way, I was with David Crosby and my son Bryce...both of them made essentially the same comment the moment they saw the Buell at the top level of the famed Guggenheim Building. There is a GREAT story about what you did NOT see at that, the most famed of all time, motorcycle exhibit. It took BMW, their and a pretty straight forward quasi-threat to make it happen, but it is a great Buell story . . remind me to tell you sometime. Aaron Wilson's pristine red RS1200 was in the Guggenheim show in Las Vegas. I, on a bet with a few cycle-celebs, took the "if you can't ride it, why own it" bet and rode Aaron's bike, in one day, from Colorado and into the Guggenheim. Yes, Rev. Al Sharpton was involved...but that's anther story..... There was quite a wonderful opportunity for a Buell XB to be exhibited last year, along with the Honda NAS and the Yamaha MT01, but Harley-Davidson opted to keep the Buell out, put the V-Rod and another cruiser in. The 2nd Rockerfeller show opens to the public on the 19th of this month. I get to have dinner with top execs from 3 motocycle companies in a Soho loft on the 17th and have been unable to wrangle a media Buell. If I can get one, you can bet your *** that I'll ride it. I'm thinking that having 5 million folks walk past the XB is a "good thing". Watch for photos..... Court (still recovering from being busted for an appearance on the "Speed Channel" when I was supposed to be at work. Akin to the Stephen Bianchino photo with Erik Buell and Jerry Wilke when he won the Battletrax deal in WI on a day he called in sick in NYC....and his photo showed up in ThunderPress only to be spotted by his partner....ooooooooooooooops. Remind me to tell you. |

An off topic question. Should be a "legal" one as I see one simalerly posted quite often. Court, are you really working on some sort of book on you adventures? If you are, and you publish it, (even though I'm one of the Cheap Bueller B4$T4RD$) I would buy one of the first edition hard bound copies, not waiting for the paperback. You'd probably think I was one bothersome neighbor if I lived close to you. |

>>>Court, are you really working on some sort of book on you adventures? For the first time, in the last 10 years of urging, it looks like it may happen. I've been approached by a reputable and well known group. Challenges now are many including time, sorting through material and doing some much needed research to add some facts to anecdotal tales and "protect the innocent" (there are still a few chapters in Buell history that it's in everyone's interest to keep under wraps a bit longer). We'll see....I have two other writing projects related to motorcycles and thier relationship to "the human condition" in the "under discussion" column. More will be known in the next 3 weeks. The other fly in the Buellment is frickin' work. Last years little glitch all of a sudden made building power plants a pretty fair business again. By the way, regardless of what anyone tells you about work ..... I love mine! Keep buggin' . . . I respond well. Court |

"There was a Blue one at the New York Premiere of the Guggenhiem. " Thank you for clearing that up. I watched a bit of a documentary on the show and must have been confused as to where exactly it was. The building they showed with people stretched down the street in a line attempting to get in sure looked like the Guggenheim and I remember them saying it was a Guggenheim display but you know - editing and splicing footage and all that . In any case, does anyone have any pics? |
