So i got an 04 XB12S w 17k miles this weekend. Pretty much stock performance-wise except for the Jardine exhaust. My issue is that it has a decent lag time when i open up the throttle from idle. Also, when I downshift to slow down, it pops and backfires a few times. Could these problems be solved by adjusting the ECM with the ECMSPY cable? Or does this happen to all XBs regardless of exhaust? Other than that, it seems to do really well. Much more comfortable to ride than my X1. |

Download ECMSpy, get the cable, and do a TPS reset. Would be wise to check timing while you're at it. My XB's never backfired on deceleration, but I do get SOME popping. Not a lot, but some. As far as throttle response, it's hard to say what you're experiencing. XB's don't have lightning fast throttle response. It's pretty relaxed, but can be pepped up a bit with some tuning. |

I can send you some fuel maps that I have done that ELIMINATE the de-accel popping, also improves low-end throttle response,Brian |

Ok, cool. Yeah just ordered a cable. Raptor, is your map for an XB9? Would it be compatible with the 12? Yeah, its not backfiring it is popping. I read the exhaust comparison report, and it seems like the Jardines just do that. |

The 12 maps wouldn't work on the 9. You could try the Jardine quiet insert to help with the decel popping. They are around $35. The exhaust will be a couple db quieter and it will help with some of the low end torque loss. As far as the tuning with ECMSpy it takes quite a bit of experience with ECMSpy to know how to get rid of the popping. There is a write up on one of the Buell forums specifically for the decel popping. I'm not trying to convince you to not use the program. Once you get the hang of the program and the tuning process it gets real simple. If you want to go the ECMSpy route I can give you some more info on how to and a few links that will help.
