My lump has been in and out of the shop for the last couple of months with intermittent issues. after FINALLY figuring out it WAS the voltage regulator that I suggested it probably was because of how it was acting, I was told its on back order for 2 weeks. That was 4 weeks ago, after calling today they said another 7 days. I asked them if I could find one online if they'd buy it and cover it under extended warranty. They said yep, SO looking for voltage regulator NEW IN BOX for an 03 xb9R. LOL how fkkd up is it that I have to order parts for my dealer lol

I don't recall your old thread, you sure you actually need a VR? 90% of the time its just the connector that failed (melts), but the VR may still be good. The new VR's come with a different connector and a kit to change the other end of the connector.

They said when it was replaced last time it looked like they just mashed it in and bolted it down, said the top was all cracked n sht. Now they're feeding me a line of crap about Al's parts not having the same part numbers as required to buy it under extended warranty. Guess I'm just supposed to wait ANOTHER month for a backorder to MAYBE get filled when enough people need the part, OR buy it myself and fix it.....
SOOOOOOOOOOO tired of all the hassles that come along with buell ownership.

There are probably trying to buy the original old part instead of the newer part with the updated connector kit.

You wouldn't have these hassles if you had a decent dealer. If it is out of warranty you are really better off fixing it yourself or finding a decent independent service place.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
What are the old and new # so I can ask?
When n why did they update it?
Ive been to about 10 diffrent dealers ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY even been one in Canada ( they managed to strip my primary drain plug 300 miles from home...) n have yet to find ONE I'd call GOOD. A few I've been to are ok n even went out of thier way on a thing or two (this one included) but a GOOD HD dealer that will work on buells are VERY few and far between. I paid extra for the extended warranty and will end up buying another one if I dont end up torching the bike on my lawn because I'm SURE this is not the the last time it will need work.

The one Al sells is the OEM part, he gets them from a dealer.

Y1302.02A8 is the current part number, came out back in October 2008. This is kit with the new connectors that won't arc and melt.

It fits the 03 when you put the new connector on the end of your harness. In theory it takes a special crimp tool to put the new connector on.
