From what I read, the Helibars are one of the best ways to improve comfort on the Firebolt. It also looks like it improves the handling of the bike but I can't find them on their site. I I've seen the 1125CR Clubmans put on Lightnings, but I think they would hit the fairing on the Firebolt. I know American Sport Bike was working on a set of modified clip-ons or an adapter to move the bars up and back. Any updates or alternatives? I need to replace both of my clipons. If I need to spend the money, I'd rather improve the comfort of the bike. |

I saw an LSL kit with trees, bars, brake lines and fittings for $450. That's a little more than I was looking to spend. (but engineered for plug and play and nice anodizing options.) What's involved with the lightning setup? Upper triple ($100?) bars ($50-100) brake and clutch lines? What do you do for the ignition? Do the stock bars clear the firebolt fairing? And recommendations for other bar alternatives that fit? |

well my parts for an s bar conversion on a firebolt should be showing up on monday... i know i have to make a bracket of some sort for the ignition switch(shouldnt be to bad, got some ideas already), and i am fairly sure i will either have to trim the fairing for the bars or find a bit lower dirtbike style bar. figure it out when i get that far... |

No Rice: Please take some pictures and be sure to follow up when your done. I'd love to know if it fits with no other modifications. Probably too early to tell if they improve the comfort by much. F22raptor: got any pictures of it? Can you use bar end mirrors with that setup? Did you have to cut the fairing at all, that retailer is saying you may need to. Another option from the 1125R board are Convertabars: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/354781.html They're still $300, ugly w/ the stock triple still there, and I'll probably need longer lines. Great pictures, better looking bike! Get a sound clip of the exhaust too. So it pretty much looks like a Lightning setup. You're paying a premium for sweet looking billet, you can customize the colors to your bike, and no trimming (we'll see about that when No_Rice does his). I'm thinking black bars, black lines with red fittings. Whats the banjo? I'm assuming the triple bar clamps? I didn't realize how much they charged for the high bars for the 1125R too. I love my firebolt. All I do is scoot my ass as far foreward as I can use my legs to squeez the bike and arch my back when im stoped or going slow then i slide my ass back as I speed up. Simple! I would not change a thing. by scooting your ass foreward and arching your back you sit strait up when stoped. by squeezing your legs on the bike you hold your self up with leg strength instead of your arms. just take a race course on how to ride your bike and you wont need to alter it. |

just take a race course on how to ride your bike and you wont need to alter it. so a race course on how to ride will make a person taller or give them longer arms...? because that is the reason i am putting different bars on this bike. my gf is fairly short, already put the low suspension on it a couple years ago. that doesnt make her arms any longer. and as far as me, my riding is adequate |

F22: Is that a hydraulic setup? If not, then I have no idea what you have done. Do tell............ Hey, if ya need longer arms, a good hard whack on the throttle will stretch ya a bit! No_rice, I'd ride it! |

No-rice,are you wondering want was done to the clutch? yes lol, i should have been more clear! Hey, if ya need longer arms, a good hard whack on the throttle will stretch ya a bit! the only reason she doesnt have one of her blasts anymore and now has one of my old 9's is because she wanted more power! gotta love it shes pretty reserved on her own bike most the time, but there are days where she will light the wick and away we go... No_rice, I'd ride it! i'll bet you'd like that wouldnt you... lol. we all can have dreams |

You can always get another triple tree and cut the bar pockets out and weld them to your triple tree. Between the two you will have a large opening to fill with weld so it will be strong enough. I know that some wisea$$ will say that it will break. I trust my welds and I have more than 5k miles on that piece. http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/2/4833/ 4881/24582440257_large.jpg http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/2/4833/ 4881/24582440258_large.jpg |

I actually have another firebolt triple that I over paid for and I have a welder I trust. Did you have to change any of the lines? Any improvement in handling/comfort? |
