Sorry, if this has been answered a million or more times but..... I have an '03 XB9S. I want to buy the Valencia Orange Air Box Cover and flyscreen....but all the sites selling them say: "fits'06-later XB and 1125R models." I thought the airboxes were interchangeable???? Anyone know if it will work on my '03 XB9S? Also, it appears http://www.1125-r.com has the best price on the airbox $199.95. Anyone have experience ordering from them? I had the same question a couple months ago. I think it was Froggy who told me you can fit the later ones on the earlier models, but you can't do the reverse because the later ones have the air intake from the front (the screen by the gas opening). I'm assuming if you ran an earlier one on a later model there would be no place for air to enter. So there would be no problem running a later one on your '03, as a matter of fact I picked up a Valencia orange airbox cover & flyscreen that is going on my '05... | ||

You can exchange any year airbox to fit whatever. It IS the air intake on the front by the gas cap that would have to change. I traded a guy here my 07' reds for his 03' whites. We each just cut the tabs on the inside of the airbox that holds the mesh portion or blank portion of each. Not an issue. | ||

So he would have 2 intakes? The frame one on earliers and the front one? | ||

Yeah...or find someone here that has a beat up older cover that has the blank insert. |
