Injectors are in a slightly different place too. Not sure if a 12 TB fits on a 9 manifold.

Didn't they switch to both using the same TB in 05 or something like that?

Take some pics and lets see that they look like.

I have an '04 Lightning that was raced CCS/Formula USA. This may not be a stock part. See attached pics.

The TB's were still different sizes in 07. Yes you can put a 12 TB on the 9, the heads are the same.

Thanks everybody.

I am parting out a 2006 XB12R with a blown transmission and someone with a 2003 xb9r is interested in the throttlebody... seems like it might work!

SInce the diameter is different, I bet there will need to be some tuning. Just as a warning to the buyer. If the buyer has a less restrictive exhaust you might want to sell him your header too, the diameter is larger so it can flow better. Combined with the larger TB and proper tuning and there might be a few horsepower to be gained. Probably won't make one bit of difference with a stock muffler though.

I also have a 12 TB sitting in a box and a 12 header and a 9R, maybe I should get swapping and see what I come up with.

Would be interested in hearing what Mr. Buell had to say on this line of thinking.

With proper tuning 95-100hp and 85-90ft-lbs tq could be reached. You would have to basically be a ECMSpy/MLV guru to try to tune it. There is also a RR throttle body but its a little pricey and probably hard to find.

Would that be streetable?
Or would that be starting and peaking out in the upper rev range?
If that 85-90ft/lbs torque curve is nice and flat, starting at 2000/2500 rpm, that would be awesome!

There is no question that the larger TB and header will make the power more of a peak and this peak will be high up in the rpm range (on a 9 motor). It might produce a higher peak horsepower so for the track where your RPM is more limited it might be fine. Since I have the parts I might fiddle with it, then again I might just ride the thing with the stock parts. And since I have a stock exhaust I probably wouldn't find any real gains anyway, now if someone wants to sell me a good condition race muffler in the $150 range I might be convinced to give it a try.

Good luck with that!
Stranger things have happened though...

I'd swap even for an SSDrummer.
