Hello everyone, Quick question... does anyone Else's bike like to foul plugs when riding in the rain? It's always the front one and has happened three times now... all while riding in the rain on the freeway. This last time it wasn't even a real heavy rain. Any ideas as to why this happens and/or solutions? Thanks | ||

Yes, replace your plug wires. I doubt the plug isn't fouled. The plug wires tend to rub against the engine wearing a hole in the insulation. When this happens, the electric spark gets grounded out into the motor rather than the plug. | ||

If you know your plug wires are good, check the ignition coil for cracks or other damage. | ||

yep and put a little grease on em when you put em in headless horseman 3 rain got me and Hammer with the fing wires | ||

Thanks Froggy, I will look into both of them. Is there any concern with water getting into the airbox? The first couple times I realized water was dripping down the front of my tank bag right into the intake screen and I though maybe the filter was getting wet and causing it to run rich... but that's not the case this last time. | ||

Haha you should see my airbox, especially after one ride with Brumbear last summer. He literally took off his boot and turned it upside down and god knows how much water came out! I run an open airbox, and in the really heavy stuff it will occasionally hiccup but its never been an issue. You will be fine with the stock setup.  | ||

Haha Good to know. Oregon is not forgiving when it comes to rain, I know the feeling. And who says it's stock?? I've put a couple (or more) extra holes all around and that's why I was a little concerned. But I'll get those wires replaced and check out the coil and get back at ya sooner than later. Put new plugs in while you're at it. I like glazed dough nuts not glazed plugs. |
