so im still learning the xb 9 i just got which is an 03 with 2500 miles! ya i know!. shes alot different from my m2 but they both are great bikes. im still looking for a cheap speedo sensor cuz mine is out, but shes great. what are some good riding tips to know about the xb 9's? and also some cheap performance upgrades. i only have the jardine pipe so far. im not sure if this is true but i did read some where of if i unplug some white wire where the ECM is that they will be a little more faster is that true?? or should i just get a race ECM and where can i get a race ECM?? thanks ill have some more questions later on. |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/530856.html?1264902028 Use the suspension settings on the picture Slaughter posted up on there. It is suposed to be far better than the stock settings. (Message edited by firebolt020283 on April 02, 2010) |

the oldest one buell has is the 05 which is not that different then the 03 but i belive the 05 they changed the front forks so the suspension settings on the 05 manual may be different. |

you can do it one of two ways get ecm spy and the cable and turn your stock ecm into a race ecm or you can buy one from EBR link for ebr ecm for 03 xb9: http://www.ebracing.com/shop/product34.html |

ok i think the easyer way will be the race one but i have to find a used one somewhere. and then if i put a race one in do i have to remap everything or its just plug and play?? |

It is just plug and play unless you get the $750 one but unless you are racing it is just overkill. The one in the link I posted is plug and play just like the ones Buell used to sell. |

The race ECM is a good match for the 2003 XB9 with an aftermarket air filter. You will have to get your TPS reset though. Probably will cost you anywhere from $50-100. |

throttle postion sensor and you would either have to take it to a harley shop, have ecmspy or direct link to reset the tps. |

Is yours a 9R or 9S (did they have the S in 2003?) I used the suspension settings given in the service manual on my 03 9R and it is so much better than when I bought it used. Still need to do some tweaks since I've only been able to ride it about twice since the adjustments. I suggest getting the service manual ASAP. Buy a used one or order a new one from the dealer. |

wasn't the xb9s only made for 03 and 04 before being replaced by the sx? |

Welcome! I have a 9R as well. My first bike and permemenent bike (won't ever sell it!). Tips - be wary of the short wheelbase and early, monstrous torque. It will wheely at the drop of a hat so better be leaned forward if your ripping the throttle. Essential mods= Open airbox breather reroute get an ECM cable, download ECMSpy (its easy to find, google) for tuning (people will hook you up witha map) welcome to the addiction! |

Thank u! I have a xb9s. I have the pic on my profile. And ok I'll get the cable and google it to find out. And so if I get this spy than do i have to get a race one or can I make mine faster just by tuning it??? |

If you have access to a dyno, then by all means tune it. If you know how to tune, and don't have access to a dyno, you can always do data logging. If not, try the Race map and see if you're happy with it. I don't know a lot about the Jardine and how it performs without proper tuning. |

I dnt have a dyno but I think I'll be pleased with just the race map. So now where do I get the map and can I find the cables like on ebay and stuff or do I have to get one new? Should I call up jardine and see what thy say or just go for it. I dnt think it will make that much of a differnce. |

I don't use ECMSpy except to reset TPS, a friend of mine has the cables, and knows how to run the program. |

Your first order of business should be getting ANY other exhaust. The Jardine has sub par build quality. I have watched one fall apart in front of me in a parking lot, and several others have had the end caps fall off while riding wedging against the tire. ECMspy cable - http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9317.html |

You can run Jardine without tuning. You can do alot without tuning, the ECM eventually learns and adjust for it. But ECMspy lets you do TPS resets like Glitch said...load up maps and fine tune the bike. I paid like $30 shipped for the dissambled cable and put it together myself. Took like 10 minutes. http://xoptiinside.com/buell_store |

you can use it for all types of stuff. If your check engine light comes on you can check the codes, you can remap your ecm. you can data log, you can reset your TPS. So it is not just a one time use thing. I mean the TPS reset function alone will pay for the cable. |

I have a 2003 race ECM I can sell you for $100. And if you get the "mod" bug....... I'd like to apologize on beheld of everyone here on BadWeB. It is a true addiction and will cost you many nights of tossing and turning in your sleep, feeling bad for you super thin wallet!! It's a true pleasurable pain! I think most of us Buellers have been there! I know I have been! All too often. With that.... Go buy one of these..... www.xblights.com |
