A few months ago I bought the D&D and race ecm. Once installed it ran like a champ, until today that is. Now when I whack it it stutters for a little bit before it takes off. It will do it in all gears but not every time, and the bike is warmed up at the time it happens.

Also today my low fuel trip came on and got to about 2.2 miles then it reset itself. Both of these things started today. Any ideas? And could these two things have anything to do withone another? I'd appreciate any advice.

The fuel gage will reset itself after I think three minutes of having fuel at a sufficient level to turn the light off. Maybe you leaned the bike over far enough or something (acceleration may be able to do it too) to set the light and then the fuel leveled for long enough to turn it back off.

Mine has done that but not for 2.2 miles.

As far as the hesitation... Not sure. Was it nearly out of gas? What RPM range?

As far as the fuel light, mine has reset itself to zero after the bike has been shut off. Once re-started the light took a few minutes to come back on.

When the fuel light reset itself I was going in a straight line. I was going through some hard acceleration, but not enough to give it 3 minutes worth of fuel.

As far as the hesitation- If I'm cruzin in 3rd at 4 grand and whack it, it stitters a couple of times then takes off, and is then good through the rest of the gears. It does this when I go from 3500-4500rpm to wide open, but not every time.

When I installed the D&D I ran the stock ecm for a couple of days before I put in the race ecm and had the tps reset. It seemed to run just fine with the D&D.

Like I said, I've been runnin the D&D, race ecm, and K&N filter for about 3 months with no problems until yesterday.

I was reading another post on fuel selection, and it sounded like another guy had a similar problem and thought it may be the gas. I don't know, I am about empty so I'm fixin to go fill up and ride and see how she acts.

jason, take the stock ecm with you, if problem continues with fresh fuel, swap ecm, and see if it helps. maybe bad race ecm.

look under your seat and check your battery cables are intact and tight. could be jaring the battery causing a spike if anythingsa loose. would also explain the fuel guage, and yould
probably find the trip meters reset too? Easy check though to rule it out.

Hey Jason,

I'm picking my XB9S up today from the dealer. I had the D&D installed. I also have the race ecm and K&N filter on. I'll let you know how it is.

TPS is real sensitive and something could have screwed it up! Especially with the race ECM. Its been 3 months since you set it. Try that!

Well I put some gas in it and it was still acting up for a while and then it seemed to clear up. I didn't run it real long though. Tommorow I'll put some miles on it and see how she acts.

Hey Buellny, how do you like your bike with the D&D and the race ecm? Sounds good don't it.

With my X1 if the fuel light came on the bike would run in a manner similar to what you described. Fill it up & ride for a bit & all was well again. I dont know why the low fuel level would cause it though, supposed to be a reserve but the bike would run like crap on that "reserve".

like fst_tyms said reset the tp, but first try going ten moles at steady throttle at about 3200 rpms to reset the afv(air fuel value) this is my favorite trick to clear up problems because i get to ride back on a better running bike.
and it's a nice test ride

Not that anyone is going to believe this, but I was taught (way too many years ago) that if your bike has a manual reserve that you should periodically ride it with the petcock set on reserve after getting a full tank of gas to assist in clearing the water (condensation) build up that occurs. It works for me!

I had a similar hesitation problem with my M2 and my dad had the same with his sportsters on the same day. It turned out to be bad fuel from a gas station. Bike ran like crap till it was all worked out.

Well the problem has cleared up. Went out yesterday and had no stutters or hesitations. So I am thinking it was either bad gas or maybe something is not right with my low fuel sensor, and I was about out of gas.

I am thinking that because of the way it reset itself, maybe its coming on to late after I have already used most of my reserve. I don't know?
