Hmmm, how can I ask this question without giving away why? Can't... Here goes...

Am wondering as I wait, what sort of turn-around time others have experienced in getting some of the larger parts on the XBs. (swingarm, triple-tree, front rim...).

It's only been about 2 weeks (everything is already ordered). Just wondering if I should be hoping to have things back together in time to ride up to Appleton to se EB next month.

Step 1 for followups: politely check with the parts order person that the order was in fact placed with the distribution center.

Step 2: Ask them to check and verify the estimated delivery date.

Step 2a: if they at this point do not log onto a computer or make a telephone call to someone outside of the dealership then you probably do not have a clean reply unless the internal person they talk to has already made outside contact.

Step 3: Ask if there is any way to get classified as a "bike down" status due to your upcoming intended scheduled ride to a reasonably major fairly high profile event.

Step 4: Ask about a loaner bike program if they have the bike in their shop for the service work being done.

Hint: if the wheel isn't in stock at the distribution center then focus heavily on step 4.

Just some random unofficial amateur thoughts on the matter.

FYI: My dealer was able to look in the puter and tell me exactly where my parts were. I.E. left here this date, currently are here, should be here by this date etc...

there's a fairly active group of buellers in/around chicago . .. . see the windy city storm front page, if you're interested

given the parts you ordered, it's eiether a bullgoose custom you're workin on, or . .. . .

are you OK?

Wanted to pop back into this thread and say thanks again. I was able to [politely] and intelligently ask the parts dept for the real skinny on my parts. As it turns out, everything is in but the swingarm. No backorder notation in the system for it but he's going to check into it deeper for me on monday. Might have my ride back in a week or two - crossing fingers & toes.

Me - I'm embarrassed. I'm Ashamed. But ok. I was dressed in layers for the temperature plus helmet, leather jacket, & boots. My nice new jacket has "character" now. ; )

Have since purchased a back protector and chosen an armored jacket... Was dressed well, but plan on being dressed very well when I go back out. (Not paranoid or spooked - just want to do it right).

I'm also going to spend an hour with mechanic to get the suspension understood and set up right even if I have to pay for his time. This really ought to be part of the sale drive off consultation.

It is at some dealerships!
If they won't do it for free, come on up, I'll set it up with you.

Ride to the edge!

Uh, what's a "sale drive off consultation"?

Mike.

Consultation, checklist, whatever you want to call it - just the run thru they go thru (location of controls and such) before you drive off.
