Hi,I just joined this forum.I have an xb9s with the race kit,I have 580 miles and am on my fourth set of plugs.My dealer says they have two of these with the race kits doing this and that they have been working with harley and haven't figured it out yet.Did anyone else have this problem?Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Did they perform the TPS reset for your new race ECM? It may be running too rich at low speeds. Also, it is still cool in PA this time of year. A hotter range of plug might be in order until it warms up some. Since the oil cooler doesn't have a thermostat, you might try covering it on cold days to see if that helps. Did you perform all the mods to the intake prescribed by the race kit (new filter and removal of rubber)? Try installing the airbox lid from an XB12, maybe that will help. It is inexpensive and certainly helps performance. Your dealer could also set the ECM's initial adaptive fuel value (AFV) to a lower value. 02 sensor might also bear replacing/checking. What type of riding have you been doing? Let us know. |

You shouldn't be going through plugs at anywhere NEAR that rate. Either something's funky in your ECM and it's messing up the A/F ratio or your riding style (taking lots of short trips without allowing the motor to heat up properly, for example) is fouling them. I've only put one set of plugs in my Firebolt over 15000 miles, I also have the race kit and have messed around with other things that can foul the A/F ratio. The set I changed were still good, I just changed them for the Pro-Series split plugs. |

Bummer. I've got a stock bike with 11K and I've changed the plugs once at 10k...and it really didn't need it. |

LOL... Mine's got 15k on the odo and I've never changed them. I pulled the rear one out last summer to look at it. It looked great, so I stuck it back in there. Maybe I should get me a new set? No way you should be fouling plugs. Something is NOT set up right with the race ECM. Do as the others have already mentioned, AFV and TPS reset. I'd take it to a different dealer as well. Mebbe the guys at your dealer haven't a clue... |

I do have the entire race kit including the air filter ecm and exhaust,the snorkel was removed and they said they said they checked the afv and tps.I am taking it in saturday for them to reset the tps and they might put it on the dyno to try to pinpoint the problem. They said something about exhaust reversion in the pipe. The guys they have on it seem pretty good,so hopefully they can get it right. I'd really hate to take the race kit off,but they said they haven't had any trouble with the stock xb9s. |

They 'checked' the TPS? RRRRR! Wrong answer. A TPS reset is mandated after the installation of the Race Kit. Don't take the Race Kit off because of this - plenty of us are running all sorts of non-stock systems and aren't burning through plugs. |

... exhaust reversion in the pipe B.S. Alert! The factory employs some very smart people, who put this kit together to work - and work well. If installed *correctly* this *will* work. Trying to blame the pipe or other such mumbo-jumbo is a sad sign that they don't know what they're talking about. It would make me seriously question whether all the other steps of the installation was done right or done at all. Once again - the dealership experience stinking up Buell ownership. Henrik |

couldn't have said it better henrik.. devildog not to rain on your parade but "exhaust reversions" what a load of horse shit. and yes your dealer sucks, yes reset the TPS. and whatever these fucktards do on the dyno with and whatever excuse they make up will be bullshit. they already fed you one line of shit and you bought into. I don't know if you know much about these matters and if you don't that is fine. That is not a prerequoset to riding a motorcycle. but your supposed trained professionals are supposed to know. Hey HD I am wound up again because once again your fucked up , non trained, completely worhtless dealer network, is staffed with employees that refuse to be truthful and use even 1/4 of their worthless wasted brains. HD ....it is enuff to make people go and purchase other bikes....and if you think not well time will prove one of us wrong. sorry about your luck devil dog. have them check the afv, it will tell so much of whats going on. have them check the injectors to make sure they were hooked up correctly, i.e. front to front , rear to rear, a few were hooked up backwards. have them reset the tps ....not check it. have check the spark plug wires. better yet ask the dumbasses to do their jobs as mechanics....not ass scratchers... fuck "EXHAUST REVERSIONS" what a load of shit Brian Tilley hd/Buell |
