Hey guys! I am trying to get my bike inspected today so I can get plates, but I noticed that when I step on the rear brake the light comes on, but when I pull the front brake...no light! Anybody have an idea what this could be. I have a 3 day temp tag from the DMV and the next 2 days is calling for rain, so I am hoping to get it done by lunch. Could it be as simple as a fuse or pinched wire? Any help would greatly be appreciated! |

The brake switches go out regularly from what I've read. They're dirt cheap. Chances are your local dealer won't have one, but I read somewhere here on Badweb that there's a Suzuki that uses the same switch.... ~SM |

Ah, here it is. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/477604.html Also, you might try cleaning the contacts, but that didn't help mine. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on March 10, 2010) |

I was able to clean mine. Shoot some electrical contact cleaner in there and exercise the switch. Mine worked after that, and I now carry a $13 spare. Cheap and easy. |

Thanks guys! I am going to try and give it a clean to see if that helps. Turns out the brake was the least of my worries. My rear tire was JUST under the limit of tread, soooo.....let's just say big $$$$ later! Apparently in NC you only need to have one brake that will make your light work to pass. Although I don't feel it is the safest thing to do (hence why I am going to repair), it is legal none the less. Go figure! |
