How is this done? I want to take a spare set of forks and trees apart for some measurements/testing before I ship them off tomorrow. I loosened the pinch bolts, but when I go to slide them out, a ring is getting in the way and won't let me remove it. |

You asking a question of all people...? There is a ring on each of the forks, up top. They only prevent the forks from sliding up. You should be able to just slide the forks down through the trees. As I've done with mine, had no issue. |

I knew I should of posted annony and saved embarrassment I will be doing this a few times, I plan on tearing into the wrecked XB tomorrow. Yes the fork slides down no problem, then it gets stuck at the top of the lower tree. Do I take the trees apart first then slide it up out of the lower? |

They should slide out easy out of the lower, with clearance. Mine did, trees still intact. I didn't remove the stopper rings until I had both of the forks off. Don't know what to tell ya man, have to be there to see. |

froggy, all you have to do is pop the ring loose. its just setting in a groove on the fork. i use a small pick and get one of the ends popped out of the groove and then just slide it out the rest of the way around with my fingers. not hard at all. it slides right up and off the top of the fork then you slide the fork down through the bottom tree. |

take out the pinch bolt on the lower tree take a flat head screw driver place it in the slit and gently tap it in a little bit it will widen the tube a bit. then just pop it down and out. |
