Gonen60 - I finally got around to taking the pics of my bike. They include some of the damage from my low side yesterday. Hope I do this right. For you folks on dial up.. I apologize in advance. The pretty side  Front Fairing Damage  Rear Brake lever grinded down about 3/4"  Rear Swing arm and rear pulley got scratched up also  Better look at the swing arm  WTS, Corbin Streetfighter, slightly scuffed (  )  Zero Gravity Double Bubble  I broke the Front brake lever also, but luckily a spare was to be found at the track and I resumed riding that day. Thank you Rodney from Central Texas HD for hooking me up with the spare Windscreen and front brake lever. Oh yeah, one last pic. The Trojan Frame Sliders (glue on ones) held up nicely. The bike mainly slid on the bar end but the bar did hit the gas tank pretty hard, I would hate to see the dent if I had not had the frame sliders on there  | ||

Forgot to add Damage to rider: I am very fortunate, I was going pretty fast through turn 4. I low sided after the turn. I was leaning the bike over to get setup for my next turn and I guess I forgot to get off the bike enough to compensate. I did hit my chest on the bike pretty hard, so my sternum/rib area is in some pain. I tried standing up before I came to complete stop, so the foot I put down to stop myself hurts a bit. Oh yeah, my back hurts from trying to pick the bike up improperly, had to get somebody to help me as I had alot of adrenaling going and was a bit shaky. Other than that, Im fine. I had forgotten to take my stock seat with me (my normal practice) and rode with my cruising seat that day. Surprisingly that thing is pretty sturdy, I thought the seat would have ripped. | ||

I think thats the first report we have had of someone with the Trojan sliders on actually having a crash. Its good to see that they apparently did their job well. Glad you are ok too. | ||

Notice you snapped the windscreen and the fairing support, but not the fairing...My stock in the value of the Surlyn (sp?) goes up yet another notch. As has also been voiced glad your were able to walk away. | ||

Glad to hear your ok. I was in a high side on Mar. 8th and am still healing from a broken right wriest and left elbow. Got only 2 more weeks till the pins come out and a week later the fixater comes off. edited by Cataract2 on March 31, 2004 | ||

Based on my experience of tarmac-testing XB's,it seems the frame protects have saved quite abit of damage ? | ||

Wycked - I did the same thing at Deal's Gap tw years ago. Snapped the magnesium support on the right side where turn signal mounts - the surlyn was just a bit scuffed. Tough shit. Glad you're all right, Austin. Scratches just add character.  | ||

Well, it looks like sliders mounted on a rod through the hollow axle would have saved some damage too. Most every XB I've seen pictures of after going down have the same type of damage to the swingarm. | ||

Captain: I thought the same thing! Maybe using some bar ends, some steel and rubber washers, and a piece of all-thread would be a cheap solution? Something I may try... | ||

Austin; glad you're ok. Remember how they tell you to tap the ground 3 times before you get up Just to make sure you're not still sliding. Rear axle sliders would be easy to make; machine bar stock polyethylene or similar to press-fit into the axle with a larger diameter slider sticking out. That is if one had that kind of machinery or access to someone who does - Ohh Al?? Henrik | ||

Yes, Im glad Im alive and well. I never heard of tapping the ground 3 times to make sure Im not moving, that would have been good knowledge. When I realized that I was down, the only thing going through my head was "Keep your head up! Keep your head up!" They have a policy of if your head touches down you make a trip to the hospital. Thats probably why my neck muscles are so sore. Frame sliders for the rear swing arm, now that is something I would buy and I know would be marketable. The same design that we put on our handlebars but to fit into the axle hole would be perfect. Anybody have access to those kinds of tools? | ||

A riding buddy of mine has already made 3 different prototypes of some really cool swingarm sliders. He should be ready to bring them to market soon. I will keep everyone informed. | ||

Frame sliders for the rear swing arm, now that is something I would buy and I know would be marketable. Trojan already has em. Look pretty good to. | ||
