Anyone use the Buell tail bag? Not the trunk bag, but the smaller tail bag, PN 91211-04Y. I have an RKA bag that I really like but the mounting system just doesn't want to work with my TT seat. Not sure if I can get the tail bag anymore, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. Thanks! | ||

I just got the 91585-03Y (non- expandable older style) instead of the newer version ... texture in the first pic looks strange - it doesn't look like a grid pattern in real life.   Not alot of space, but good for sun glasses, cell phone, cleaning cloth, sandwich and a soda - but that's about it. It was made for the stock seat, so it rides a little high on my select seat. Also, the front straps that go under the seat are just a thin (1/8") bungee instead of the newer ones that have a wider strap. Nothing that a little time on the sewing machine and a couple bucks for nylon straps won't fix. Not sure how much more the expandable one holds, but I liked the looks of this one better, and I don't carry too much ... | ||

Capt - thanks! I had not seen that particular one before. That looks about perfect - does it interfere with anything under the seat? My RKA bag has a pad that attaches via straps to the seat, and then the bag itself attaches to the pad. Cool system, but straps were hanging up on components under the seat, and I worried about what it might be putting pressure on, rubbing against, etc. | ||

The skinny bungee is supposed to go in the detent of the seat frame just aft of the seat hooks to hold the front of the bag ... and there's a loop of nylon web that goes around the seat latch hook to hold the back (tough to see in the first pic's instruction sheet). Not sure how well it will work once I put straps in place of the bungee - but so far, so good, and it doesn't hang up. | ||

Thanks again. I found a pdf somewhere on the 'net and could see the installation instructions. I might see if I can't do something similar with my current bag, otherwise I'll start hunting around for a replacement. | ||

I have this tail bag on my XB12ss and it has been excellent...maybe the straps might wear at some point but it holds on good so far.  | ||

I too have bought the older version of the tailbag. I liked it better for the size and what I carry in it.  | ||

Kim - Are the straps on yours elastic or nylon web? If yours is elastic, is it adjustable and does it stay put? I'm thinking of ideas for mine from elastic that will slip over the seat, or nylon web with snaps fixed to the seat pan, or nylon web with velcro to the seat pan, or ......? | ||

When I had my 12s, the old tailbag worked great and it was on all the time unless I knew there may be a passenger coming along. There is a difference between the models made for 12s and 12r, so be sure which one you are buying. The front bungie seems light duty, but did work just fine.  | ||

Hey I picked up one of those "older style" bags for under $40 on Ebay.. They are great, perfect for a light load, mobile cell phone, keys, snack, helmet bag etc.. The cord is a little on th light side, but as people have said, nothing a little needle and tread can't fix...  | ||

Mine are nylon web I guess with the velcro...they work well never had a problem with falling off or getting loose. The strap may wear around the seat locking mechanism ...it gets pinched there...I'm sure it could be a problem one day. But the bag is excellent, amazingly handy on many occasions. |
