So I am in fact a moron. Somehow between a new baby Christmas and all of that good stuff I forgot to put stable in my tank. So it has been sitting there on the charger since mid Nov. I really don't know what to do. Do i just run it today and put in fresh gas and stable or should i do something else?

it should still be ok, just add some to the tank and let it run enough to get the fuel through the lines

Yeah, it'll be fine. I've left my Firebolt sit that long without doing anything to it and it had no ill effects.

yes, now that i think about it my father in-law leaves his bikes in the garage with nothing in the tanks and they always start up fine in the summer

I start and run my bikes, lawnmower, and other engines that don't get used in the winter. I run them monthly for about 5 or so minutes and have no problems after winter is over.

I store all of them with FULL gas tanks to avoid condensation.

Because of the belt back order and my putting one tire on every 2 or 3 weeks (per funding levels) mine has been sitting without Stabil. I'm going to siphon 3 or 4 gallons out, put in Stabil and top it off with fresh gas. May be over kill, but it's my bike and will make me happy. She is getting new plugs and oils (both holes) too. They are on my desk.

smell the fuel if it smells like gas your fine it most likely is fine. If it smells like varnish your in a bit of a jam.

I wouldn't sweat it. I've let my 9s sit much longer than that without doing anything special to it. But when I do run it on the occasional winter day I try to ride it for a solid half hour or better, take it up to highway speeds for at least a few minutes and top off the tank if possible.

If you cannot do that at least let it idle for 15 minutes or so once a month until you can. Hell, I let my lawnmower sit for several months and never have any issues.

I have two bikes now and I don't even bother to winterize them. I just use battery tenders and run them every 6 weeks or so if I cannot ride them. Never had any issues.

Andy,
if you decide to try and get out all that old gas you'll have no luck siphoning.
what i did was disconnect the fuel line from the rail (lille plastic ring push-button release thingy) and to get it all out; cycle the switch like... a hundred times lol.
couldn't be an faster/easier way to empty the frame.

My .02 cents wants to believe that with fuel injection and modern fuel additives we don't have as much of a problem. Gravity fed needles, seats and floats have to fare worse than a pressurized fuel system.

+1 to what Brumbear says, if it just won't start and smell like you should be cleaning paint brushes with then you may have to drain it and purge it.

If you put stabil in it now you;ll have to run it for a good 5 minutes to get it throughout the entire fuel system. With the HD motor I don't know what ramifications running it without driving would have. I predict that for 5 minutes or so at a time it wouldn't be that bad.

I made a similar mistake this year also. I put the last of my stabil in my wifes firebolt but for got to get more for my 25r. I did the sniff test and fired it up...it took a bit to get running, but I think that was more of a combination of it just sitting in the COLD for too long without starting. Once she was running the fumes out the back were just as noxious as ever...gas must be fine.
