I am about to purchase either a special ops, D&D or a Drummer exhaust for my 2007 XB12S, reviewed many units for power, torque, price, etc. YouTube has helped with providing sound of a run by for the Jardine, D&D and Drummer. I cannot find a good video of the special ops unit for sound other than sitting at idle, anyone have any ideas on which sounds the best. My vote so far has to be with the drummer with its deep sportster on steroids sound. D&D sounds pretty good too. I think the Jardine and Drummer SS look the best.
Unfortunately youtube videos do not do any pipe justice, you will need to hear them in person. Then it comes down to opinion. Out of the ones you listed, I liked the Drummer the best. The Micron full system is currently my pick.
I have a Hawk, and the sound is my favorite. It's easy to be quiet, and still is easy to be heard in the upper range. No loss of power anywhere. 05 XB12R Stock ECM, and air filter, but the airbox is drilled.
Can anyone that has heard several of them in person comment? Describe the sound of each in terms of loudness(db/volume), tone/frequency, raspiness, etc?
I can't compare. But, when I started my bike after installing the Drummer, I almost crapped my pants. I was not expecting the thunder that came out of my bike. It still puts a smile on my face.
There is a guy in Georgia who I had talked to and was extremely nice and knowledgeable who did custom pipes. Does anyone know his name or the name of the pipes he makes? I thought they were Hawk performance, but I can;t remember. I lost his emails!
Is that exhaust shootout from americansportbike.com still around. It really helped me out when choosing one for my bike. A lot of good info available in there if its still around.
