My warranty is up in March, does anybody know the recent price for the extended warranty? |

I bought one with mine, but that was back in '03 when it [the XB line] was brand new and had not had a chance to prove itself. I've had no trouble with it and would not discourage an extended warranty if it made you feel better, but nor would I tell you that you really need it. |

Mine has LITERALLY paid for itself 3 times. GET IT! |

Mine was a waste of money. Take the grand or whatever it costs, put it in a high interest savings account. If your motor explodes, you got the money on standby. If nothing happens, buy yourself a Blast. |

I was offered two extra years for a little over $400... Guess I still have a week or so to consider it. Half of me agrees with Froggy, and the other half wonders if it would be worthwhile as a selling point somewhere down the line. And I guess one tire replacement would cover half the cost... |

$400, I could live with that, it is much cheaper than the one I was sold. Also read the fine print, common failures like belts and bearings might not be covered due to them being wear items. Hmm... I wonder if I would accidentally get a nail in both tires right before a track day |

"Hmm... I wonder if I would accidentally get a nail in both tires right before a track day" The manager I spoke with essentially said "I haven't bought a new tire since I bought my extended warranty..." Edit - I was thinking $418... it was actually $814. That probably changes the equation. You young guys shouldn't laugh; you'll be doing stupid things at 45 too. My bike just had it's second rear rocker box leak fixed, yes I always let it warm up for a few minutes before riding. It's nice to get things taken care of under warranty when you don't have the time or money to fix things. On the other hand, I can totally fix these things myself, just tore apart and put back together my track bike over the weekend. But I have no idea where I might be in a year or two, and if it is some apartment with no garage, tearing apart a bike in the living room and having parts laying all over the place is not what I want. But if it's over $500 for the warranty, the heck with that, I'll just fix it myself and learn this bike inside out. |

Jeffroj, that's what I was thinking. The thing comes with a 2 yr warranty if anything happens and by then I hope I will pretty much know the bike inside and out. Figure I can take it from there. |
