I bought an 09 XB12R and want to pick up a spare drive belt off ebay. How many years back are the same as the 2009. Thanks! | ||

All the way to 2004, but the older belts are weaker. If possible, pick up part number G0500.1AAG Do not get a Ulysses/SS/STT Belt, as those bikes are longer and it will not fit your bike. Bumpus Harley has the correct belt in stock. | ||

The part number breaks down like this G0500 means its a drive belt, just about all Buell belts have that prefix .1AA is the year and model code, in this case its 04XB12R. The last A is a revision code, the newer the belt, the further down the alphabet the letter is. Last time I looked they were up to G. Any belt with .1AA will work on any 04-2010 XB-R,S,SX,SCG,SL.  | ||

P.H. - Good idea, mine has deep cracks adjacent to two teeth, about 130 degrees apart, with only just over 10,000 miles on it. I bought a new one and installed it. Mike (Message edited by 1_mike on January 04, 2010) | ||

mine sheared teeth off at 30,000 miles. it still got me home with about 12 teeth missing. when i go to replace it do i need to have the rear suspended before i pull thebrace off the swingarm? my fear is having the swingarm under load and when i pull the brace off it moves slightly preventing the bolts from lining up on installation. its on a 04 12s | ||

Using a rear stand can help, as it makes it easier to loosen the tension on the axle, but is not necessary. Just follow the instructions in the service manual, and you are good to go. | ||

Mine didn't move with the side brace off. The holes lined up perfectly, with the belt in place BUT not tightened, no idler pulley. Mike | ||

No, the 06+ belts just have no recommended replacement interval. It's an 'inspect and replace as needed' type part now. | ||

Yes, it is covered under the standard 2 year unlimited mile warranty. | ||

I'm racing the bike so I'm guessing the 2 year warranty on my 2009 is out the window..... I will eventually convert to chain but at $1,700, it will be a little while. I've been told around the paddock to have an extra belt on hand as for the multible shifts, both up and down per lap, tend to wear on the belts pretty quickly. | ||

^^^Could be, I dont downshift hard and I've got 26K on my stock 05 belt. I've even had to dig a pebble or 2 or 3 out of it. |
