For the record . . I DO NOT hate Harley-Davidson. I do have issues with about 3 folks who, to carry out a long standing "I'll teach you a lesson" vendetta . . . put forth some poor data and tricked some folks into the poor decision on Buell. The same group who trumpeted Buell and announced the building of the new consolidated world HQ facilities just one accounting period later. . . the moment a new CEO and CFO who know nothing about the business come in . . is telling us that it makes sense to take a $125,000,000 hit to simply trash Buell. They made damn sure it was destroyed and not available to any of the folks who were eager to buy it. That's my only issue. Several of the former top execs have been "dispatched to pursue other interests". I'll be glad when about 3 more leave. By the way . . this is unrelated to the trouble the Harley-Davidson, likely resulting from believing the same idiots, has got themselves into now. I can't wait for the upcoming conference call. The guys . . no kidding . . have been believing their own bullshit and I'm eager to see how they explain it. Here's what's happened to the overall market compared to Harley-Davidson since the day they announced the closure of Buell. Let's see where they come up with the cash for the May payments . . |

Re: the transcripts usually there is a conference call with about half a dozen high level investment people. They ask some tough questions. HD did not sound knowledgeable on the last one, 3rd quarter. Look for the previous ones, and the upcoming one, here: http://seekingalpha.com/tag/transcripts |

harley got rid of buell to simply cut its losses and keep what they wanted, Basically its easier to completely close and shutdown a company and get rid of everyone. No age descrimination to deal with or unions. You then open up a new operation at a smaller facility and offer a select few employees positions with the new division, example the new buell racing group. I worked for 2 companies in the last 15 yrs. that did the exact same thing. |

x2 nik....stagnation and court....i hope soon we can all see the shenanigans that transpired and who did what.i sincerely hope EB can come back, after all he began in a very difficult situation before.i'd love to see his visions and ideas unencumbered by anyone but his own sense of pride and balance of what will be a good seller for the company. |

>>>harley got rid of buell to simply cut its losses and keep what they wanted, I would strongly argue that had NOTHING to do with the closing of Buell. |

And from what has been revealed here many times before, Buell was NOT a union shop (though HD is). |

HD can suck my %$#k! When my warenty runs out so does my relationship with them. I had a plan that when I got to be about 50 I would settle in to a HD with a little les agressive stance then my Firebolt, now I will never buy a Harley. I will buy a secound buell and turn it into a mutaint using parts made by other US motorcycle manufacturer's. You cant run a Motorcycle compainy with a sole from a Boardroom. Harley Davidsons got no SOLE!! Harley's DeaD!!! (Message edited by brightbuell on January 04, 2010) |
