I appreciate everyone that has spoken for me. Thank you!

I pay to be a sponsor here. Everyone knows that. If you think I'm getting rich from doing pipes, Graters, and barriers you might want to pick up the hobby yourself and see how much you make. Money is one thing but the time you spend actually doing the work, ordering and picking up supplies, answering tons of emails, dealing with peoples different attitudes, desires, expectations, etc. will kill you; trust me.

I think the American Sportbike Exhaust Shootout was a very fair and honest comparison of the available pipes at the moment. I feel that I did very well considering the company I was competing with. HUGE companies as well as guys like Kevin Drum who makes absolutely top-notch, high quality products (plus he's a nice guy to deal with!). Could I charge more for what I do? Yes. No question. However, in tough times like we are in now, I like to be able to allow someone to customize their Buell without having to make their kids go without food for a week.
I'm all for the betterment of all Buell owners. However, I have worked long and very hard over the last five years trying to keep folks happy and I gladly pay to be a sponsor here. I find it disheartening for someone to come here and attack me and my products for whatever reason. You can have your personal opinion all day long. I'm all for that. You are entitled to that right. However, when you start to attack me personally, I have a problem with that. I don't need Blake or a moderator to defend me. Dalton Georgia (badcarma101) is not that far from me and I would gladly meet you face to face to figure out exactly what you have against me. Better yet, maybe some of the "500" Hawk pipe owners could come to BuelltoberFest/March Badness and show me and everyone just how good the pipe really is. Five hundred is such a huge exaggeration it is laughable. Really.... If you want to know how many years of sweat and welding burns and black nostrils and ears from working metal goes into 500 pipes ask myself or Kevin. Mr Hawk doesn't know...trust me.

You can talk all day long about Hawk pipes and how good the are. That's fine with me. Yet another supplier of parts for the motorcycle brand I love. However, until you go by the rules set forth in the agreement you said you would abide by when you registered here you will be hounded and banned. I have not seen nor heard a Hawk pipe. I won't say anything about it, period. I'm not going to attack the muffler or the person. I have more respect than that. But I will defend myself......

+1 to Odie for abiding the rules. Rules are made for a reason, to NOT be broken.

To pay to be a sponsor and go through weld burns, black nostrils, etc... and still end up with a pipe that costs 250 US dollars is someone who's definitely in it for the sake of Buell and not the money.

I still don't understand why some don't use the valve versus others utilizing the valve. Is it just how the modder mods the can that would make a valve not be needed? Another thing, how many Spec Ops have been made versus Hawk? 500 does seem a bit overstated though considering his sites had just over 5k hits.

Im going with Odie...I like the fact that the valve is still operational plus his reputation is outstanding. Odie, as soon as I get the exhaust off of my brand new XB12ss I will email you and get the details for shipping. Can't wait to have my new Buell sound like a Buell should ! : )

Odie, this is Ody(believe it or not), I live in Dothan Alabama; some 30 miles from you. I have an 04' XB12R and if I didn't already have the pro series pipes on mine, I would have bought your pipe without hesitation. I have read all the available information on most all of the pipes you can imagine. What you have to offer seems to be comparable to all the others!! That includes the BIG GUYS as well. Keep up the good work!!!!! I'll ride up there one day and meet you. You have a GREAT product. Just the fact that you are being used as a comparison means you are doing something.
If I can find my old pipe, I'll have ya make me one also.

Thanks for all that you have done.

peace out

Ody

I just ordered one of Odie's units, and I'll say this...

If his product is even half as good as his customer service is, I'll be the happiest man alive.

I'm very demanding, and had some unusual requests for him. I wanted to have the muffler look exactly like my stock unit, and have all the other good stuff too. I also did not want to send him my stocker.

He fielded all of my numerous questions promptly and is turning around the pipe in less than 2 weeks.

I was particularly interested in the fact that his setup retains the stock XB12 valve.

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Lots of folks with their panties in a wad over the sponsorship rules lately.

Here's my take on it:
While it may or may not be the "best" solution to supporting a site like this, it is how it's structured and that rules are the rules. To me, it makes someone who does not abide by the site rules to appear to lack credibility and integrity...and makes me question the product as well.

I really appreciate the sponsors of BadWeb- for both their financial support of it, as well as their input to the site. Every one of them that I have dealt with has been TOP NOTCH, and folks that I would not hesitate to by a beer for if I ever get to meet them in person. It seems to me that they are the ones in it for the long haul, folks that I can count on to be there for years to come.

FWIW. Randy only violated the Rules once on this site. He did so unaware that there were rules and once informed of the rules he never plugged his product again.

FWIW? Wtf does that mean?

What I've read from the older Hawk Performance Exhaust thread, I won't disclose the one who started the post, I've gathered that he's broken them a few times and was warned of his actions. I'm new-ish to BadWeb, therefore I know little of such matters.

So has anyone actually tried combining a K&N with an aftermarket muffler on an 08 or 09 or is it all just theory (it can adjust for exhaust only or intake + breather mod)?

I want the small block sound so I'm going to do exhaust. I'd like to get a bit more performance out of it, but I don't want to hurt the bike in the process. I bought the 08 for reliability and plan to keep it till the wheels fall off. I saw a post of an 04 or 05 XB12 w/ aftermarket exhaust, k&n and stock ecm. The plugs were shot after a little while and I can't imagine that being good for the long haul. I'd rather not waste the $60 if I don't have to. I know there's a sponsor on the west coast that can tune the 08's, but I'm on the east coast so thats out of the question.

A lot of people are. Been running my 08 with a K&N and Drummer for the past 6K. No problems, runs like a champ.

+1 to Odie ... especially on the custom work. I wanted it semi-stock and with the 'small block sound' without having to send mine in and lose riding days. Odie is great at 'customer satisfaction' - something that is becoming more and more scarce these days ...

I love my special ops pipe!!!

I don't remember how long it took him to build for me, but I'm a very patient person.

To add, I understand what it takes to get all your ducks in a row as far as ordering supplies/ parts, replying to emails, building and shipping.

I can't remember the last time I had my "wait time" for lights under a few weeks.
It's tough to juggle a regular job, a honey-do list and running a small biz!!
Some are okay with it, some are not.
Just the way it goes!!

I have a descent amount of folks buy elsewhere due to a month long wait time.
Doesn't hurt my feelings as I understand some folks are impatient ( which hurts more then helps in most cases )
plus it helps keep my business down to "workable" hours.
I refuse to be that guy on his death bed saying " I wish I wouldn't have wasted so many years working"

The wife and I just had a similar discussion Rob. We work our butts off and very rarely spend any time relaxing. That really needs to change. If we could sell our pet supply/grooming business life could be semi-normal then. Life is a harsh balance of work and prosperity vs. having a good time and enjoying yourself. Very hard to do for us. I'll be 50 in a few years and I feel like life is getting away from me. Trying to stop and smell the roses a little more lately!

You two should know that there are folks out here in cyberspace that really appreciate what you do for us all. If I had the means, I would finance a nice vacation for both of your families and yourselves but that aint gonna happen. I will pray however, that you guys can become men who find the ability to enjoy the lives you lead, have much happiness in the accomplishments you make and those roses get stopped at and smelled.

Thank you Odie and Rah7777777!
Dan

Thanks Dan! I sincerely appreciate your kind words! Work has never, ever bothered me. I go non-stop. Hopefully that will KEEP me going for a long, long time. However, there are some things in life I want to do before it gets too late. Unfortunately, our other business, my full-time job, kids, and land to maintain (all on top of the Buell biz) really prevents us from leaving town for even a few days time. I wish we could sell our pet business but with the economy the way it is it would prove difficult. It does very well but it is an 8 day a week job. Oh well. The wife and I are hard workers so it isn't a big deal right now but I told her last weekend that we NEED to make time for us. I hardly ever see her anymore.

Have a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New year!
