I really love my Uly! I love it on gravel, on my way to work, touring with my wife as a pillion. I recently took it to a track-day, and I had a lot of fun. The bike is very versatile. I got to thinking, maybe I should have two sets of wheels. One with heavier threads for gravel and touring, and one for track-days and fun on the road. So to my questions... Has anyone tried this? Is it difficult/time consuming to change wheels? Can I fit lighter XB12s wheels on my Uly for when I know that I will only be riding on tarmac? |

Since the XT comes with the lighter wheels, I would say its safe to say you could do it. Don't know how easy it would be, and the cost is nuts. |

I think Chadhargis had two sets of wheels for his Uly when he had it. Ft_bstrd changed to gold-colored S wheels on the Uly he used to have. Wheel changes are pretty easy once you've done it a few times. With a motorcycle jack and muffler support you could probably change them both in ~30 minutes. |

Yes its doable, you can pickup a used set of rims for about $400, plus you need sprocket, rotors, bolts, so about $250 more. Oh, you still need rubber |

Court has a Uly rear wheel on eBay now, last I checked it was around $125 and has axle bearings. Sorry, I don't have a link to it, but I think he has a link out of the BadWeb classifieds |

I have 2-sets of wheels the original Orange and a set of Black rims complete with all the trimmings including stock Pirelli T's I picked up of Ebay for $500.00. Changing the wheels out is real simple once you have done it. Be very careful removing the rear axle, because if it has original tires or the axle and swingarm pinch area where not properly lubed with Never Seize, the axle will be stuck on the left side and while backing out the axle from the right side this will cause the left swing arm section to be pushed outwards and can break. The best thing to do is start backing out the axle and use a Brass rod just a little smaller than the left axle head to lightly tap with a hammer to get the axle to break loose from the pinch area. Then remember to lube the "whole axle" with plenty of Never Seize, this will keep the middle uncovered area of the axle from building up corrosion. I recommend taking the wheels and tires to a shop to have them installed, I've tried to change my on tires using "long" tire irons and rim protectors 1 hour later I got the front off. I found a local shop in Bessemer City, N.C and they only charged me $40.00 to remove and install new Rosso's. I did not have them balanced because I use Ceramic Balancing Bead's instead. Great product, no more unsightly wheel weights and unparalleled balancing. |

1 day 6 hours left. It is being stolen at the present time for $125 and $25 shipping. Has updated bearings in it. I bet you can get the axle with it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=250526882513&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK %3AMESELX%3AIT |

The axle is included and there is a photo of it in the auction. Someone's goign to save a couple hundred bucks . . . I've been ordered to CLEAN THE BASEMENT and either sell stuff or put it in storage. My wife is digging through the back room and drags this stuff out . . . boxes of shocks, rotors, ECM's and who knows what . . . Weird to see the FIRST and the LAST Buell shirts sitting on the desk next to each other . . .
