(posting for a friend-- This is a brand new bike with less than 1,000 km) I have had the oil pressure light come on a couple of times on the Buell, after a bit of spirited riding. I shut things down and let it cool off, then when I fire it up again the light does not stay on. The oil level is to max on the dipstick. Have you had this happen? Any ideas? Thanks. |

Oil shouldn't be anywhere near max on the dipstick, sounds like he is way overfilled or has a oil pump issue? |

Put a pressure gauge where your oil pressure sensor and see if it's within specification. If it is, then check the wiring (I assume it's a normally closed circuit) then determine if you need a new pressure sensor switch. If not, could be your oil pump drive gear. Drop the oil pump and look inside. Plenty of information in KV. Also open your oil filter. |

make the dealer do what sloppy said.... but I am betting somebody just over filled it. is it smoking? if it is you should check your 02 sensors and spark plugs too. |

Nik, is that due to the changes in 2008 (I think) where the oil system was modified? |

If he doesn't have oil pressure I'd still look inside... |

I don't have book in front of me, but I believe the light turns on if there's not enough pressure or if there's too much pressure. There might be too much oil in there. |
