I purchased a brand new 2008 XB9SX this weekend. It has been running great all week. I started it up this morning and drove it onto campus. Then, I went to start it this evening and the bike would not start (click, click, click…). Lights went on, but the bike would not start. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your assistance. |

Make sure your battery cables are tight. May have not been tight from set up. |

The clicking sound means either dead battery or loose battery terminals. |

I checked them; both were tight. No go! |

Which fuses? Why would the battery all of a sudden die? |

You didn't leave the key in the dreaded 'park' position did you? It's easy to do, and will drain the battery quick. |

I am almost certain I did not leave the bike in "park", but, if I did, why would the lights and gauges all work? |

It doesn't take much to run the lights and gauges, but you need a bunch of juice to turn that v-twin over. My bet is that you have a bad battery. I'd check to make sure your cables are tight AND all the way down onto the terminals. |

Yeah, cables are definitely tight. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback. |

that click click is a tale tale sign of a dead battery or loose connection somewhere between the battery and the starter. jump it off or pop the clutch. ive never done it but i imagine it would take a good bit of momentum and possibly 2nd or 3rd gear to pop that v-twin. |
