The logo on the air cleaner cover that says Buell, does anyone know what font they used? I have some 3M black reflective tape that I want to use for this lettering and wanted to print it out so that I can attach to the tape and cut out the letters. | ||

I believe it is a modified font, forget where they started. You might want to think about scanning the letters,( from the year you want), from the relevant parts book. They are pretty well detailed on the Decals and Labels page. Here is an example from the 2004 Lightning Parts book. Keep in mind there is a left and right hand version.  Just my .02¢ | ||

On the other hand........... You could just spell it out in Impact, and increase the horizontal scale to 140%. Gets you pretty close.  Or............. You could just peel the old ones off very carefully, and use them as a template to cut around. Very, very carefully. Best way to remove them is spray some WD 40 on the edges, and then work some very fine nylon monofilament fishing line between the letters and the tank. Pretty hard to get them off totally intact though. | ||

The old one is individual thick (like 1/16 to almost 1/8 thick) letters stuck on the cover, no chance of getting those off easily. I was also planning on leaving the stock plastic intact and buying Airtech fiberglass. The Impact font is pretty close and may do if I can't find something better. I was looking on the Buell site last night for an email, but didn't find anything. This is strickly a one off, not going to go into business copying their logos. | ||

The new logo type, I don't know for sure, but the marketing typography is Helvetica Neue Bold for headline/bold copy. | ||

yeah those are difinately not buell artwork...someone else drew them up, as they have some clear differences from the stock artwork. |
