Decided after a wreck to get the bike done how I wanted it. All work done by RnR cycles in Sterling, Virginia. Same shop owned by Rick Beggs who races a Repsol XB9R. They did good work. mod list- -Powdercoated frame, rearsets, swingarm, triple-tee, gauge cluster, wheels -custom paint (sharkskinz full fairing) -1125R Mirrors -LED tail/integrated tailight -CRG levers -Zerogravity SR clear screen -removed front turn signals -fender eliminator and heelguards (heelguards not in pics)from customizedpikeparts to come in future- open airbox, powdercoated forks, HID's, needs heat insulation on seat/frame, custom gauge face. Only problems I've had is headlight is metlting paint just beneath it, broke the rivet holes on Jardine, turned into slots (Pops helped me fix it), and braided line above jardine is leaking a tiny bit. Tell me what yall think. I personally don't like the Sharkskiz but it's a clean setup. Looks great. Did you buy the last fender eliminater? That link doesn't show them having any. | ||

What does the full fairing get you? Can't really say it appeals to me as it then looks like just about every other sport bike on the road. So if it doesn't provide some kind of aerodynamic or cooling advantage I can't say I really like it. | ||

Thanks Hang and Firebolt32! Firebolt32- he sold them on ebay at one point and then stopped the Buell stuff, I emailed him and am trying to get everything perfect on the heelguards. The Fender Eliminator is perfect as is shoot him an email or PM me I can give it to you. Greg- I dunno, it looks pretty sweet though? I'm guessing since it is race bodywork (with street accomadations albeit) it's for aerodynamics. Seems like it's profile would be less turbulent wind wise than naked/OEM. 46champ- ??? Like convert to liquid cooled? I wish! | ||

Well for anyone looking to do the same, I know Airtech has the same/similar fully faired kit that you can buy. I think they offer it in both fiberglass and CF. | ||

yeah seen the Airtech before. got the bike with the Sharkskinz on it so didn't have a choice. Works well for me! Its 2 peices for whole thing. | ||

looks good!  but the belt guards could use some freshing up. They look old and faded next to the all the fresh paint and powdercoat. | ||

Thanks purple, yeah I noticed that to. Gonna get to it soon.... Figured out the braided line that runs right above the exhaust is the leaker, its been leaking tiny bits for a while but gotta roll the sleeves and get it fixed. My exhaust is all black and shiny don't want no oil on it. -got oem signals off, now for sale in Classifieds section, replaced with Black simple bolts -HID's getting ordered friday -catch can and open airbox within 2 weeks, trying to find a good "can" cheap for the project, no glass bottles! A nice MSR stove fuel bottle might be just the ticket if you can find out what thread they use for the stopper. The are designed for pressurized used, and made of aluminum. Strip the red paint off, paint it black and you should be on yor way. Any good camping supply store should have a few different sizes in stock. Lots of places online to order from too. | ||

Are you doing regular HID replacement lamps or going all out with a pair of BiXenon reflector housings from one of the cars that use them. I hate the way most of these twin headlight bikes winks from side to side switching between high and low beam. I plan on fixing that with a pair of BiXenon or maybe go cyclops with a single one in the center. Need to get a bike (one step closer) before I can see what the next steps will be. | ||

+1, thanks for info Greg, I'm going to look into that. Gonna stop by Bass Pro or Cabelas for the bottle. As far as HIDs, everyone else seems to just grab a pair of digital slim ballast and wire them into stock housings, probably what I'll be doing. | ||

I think (note the possibility of failure) that you could put a (or pair) BiXenon fixture from a car on the bike. That said I do not currently have any Buell machines but will hopefully pick mine up on Saturday. I intend to make measurements and try to figure out a way to make a real (acura, lexus, etc.) Bixenon work on a bike. Alternate is one of the kits from Hella that is the Bixenon projector, lamp and ballast, then buy the Hella actuator and cable to complete the mechanism. The Hella kits are far more expensive than the car parts kits and I would probably go cyclops with the Hella kit for that reason. It might be worth the time spent to look into true BiXenon kits since they are only about twice or three times the price of the simple HID lamp/ballast kits. | ||

Hella is always mad $$$$$$$, sounds like a noble idea though. Have you looked at E46 projectors with clear lens? Theres some resonably priced Bixenon projectors out there, but like ya said fitting them through the fairing and then adding in the little motorized parts might be hard. | ||

I didn't know SharkSkinz made a set until you mentioned it, so I'm not sure which one I'll get. That's still kind of far down the road so I have some time to think about it. | ||

I was looking at the new XB12R's in the dealership today, and I think the 60mm BiXenon projectors will fit, so that will be the factor to look for when shopping. I'll know more sometime in the next few weeks when it finally gets too cold for me to ride and I store the bike, that's when the mods will start!!! | ||

Thats a good looking bike Diablo! Mine had the double bubble but I preferred the look of the Zerogravity SR, although the wind protection is pretty non-existent now. Greg- winter is the best time for mods, cuz no ones doing anything so more $$$ and boredom to get it done! Thanks for all the praise guys! I love badweb! | ||

I actually just bought a pair of heel guards from him. I haven't seen them yet. I'm running through Delaware as I type. (Not driving!) So they don't match up to the stock locations? |
