....and unlike the previous, it wasn't broken. I ordered from Liberty and have no complaints at all. They were extremely easy to work with. Here are some before and after pictures: Before:

I have one on my '07 XB9R and it does seem to have my fan running a bit less. Much better in looks as well. Only Buell would make a part that improves the bike and retrofits 7 years back for......$15.00. |

Is this the scoop everybody recommends? Wasn't there a bigger one too? (Message edited by wavex on September 18, 2009) |

There is a large one, which is the one I am getting. Note it comes in 2 pieces and requires you order 2 part numbers. |

Haha, it's an optical illusion. The pattern on the new scoop makes the bike look smaller. -Nick- |

Nick, I like the looks of that one better than the larger Uly one. what is the part # off of the box if you still have it or know what it is? do the same screws work that where on it stock? Keep us posted on how it is working. Much of a difference so far? |

@Jcbikes Here's the part number: M0854.7AA The stock screws work with this scoop. I have ridden with the new scoop on a couple rides now. I have not had the fan come on during the ride, so that's a bonus so far. After the ride is over, the fan does come on like it did before. -Nick- |

The interesting thing is that the smaller scoop is used on everything, including the Japanese Ulys. The big scoop is only used on the American bikes. Wonder why. The small scoop seems to work well on my short ride. But, for the price, I might try the bigger scoop just to see. --Sean |

The Japanese XB12XT uses the larger scoop. http://www.buell.jp/lineup/2010/us_xb12xt/index.ht ml There are several variants of the large scoop because of the different headers in various regions. |

I bet the smaller scoop shown above was never really meant to be a "scoop," rather, it was just meant to cover up the front 02 sensor that's new on all 2010 bikes. Larger scoop more commonly seen on the new Ulys are designed to be scoops. |

I'd prefer the smaller one on my XB9S. So I have it on order from Liberty ( where Chris is an awesome guy to work with!! it is neat to see buell retro-fit these to older bikes... And the price is insane! They could have charges triple and still had almost the same amount of orders!! Congrats on there end! (Message edited by rah7777777 on September 20, 2009) |

Hey Robert, I have the smaller scoop and was thinking about going to the bigger one. Why don't you like the bigger one. I'd love to know before I change anything. The small scoops seems to work well, waaay better than the stock piece (and possibly better than one of the aftermarket RSS I had). --Sean |

The large one works great, but sticks out a bit more then I really like. Doesn't look too bad, but from the pics above I'd like the smaller one better Sold my larger one to NickH |

...gonna stick with the big scoop. It's made a significant difference in temp/fan running for me so, I could really care less how it looks. |

My big RSS will be here Mon, I'll report my review. I was hesitant to get one, but I have heard the price is going up, so I thought I'd give it a try. |

So, did you return the '"special edition" two piece small scoop' to get the new one or did you get to keep it? Seriously though, I'm glad Liberty came through for you and got you the right part in the correct condition (as in: ready to go). |

@Metalstorm Haha, I did return the "special edition" two piece small scoop and they did refund my money after a week or so....I'm never going to order from surdyke again. On the other hand, I would definitely order from Liberty if/when I need to, they were very easy to work with. -Nick- |
