This just out from the Motor Company; Buell Distribution Company, LLC. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain 2009 model year XB12Ss model motorcycles built June 30, 2008 through June 4, 2009 . The front brake line on the subject motorcycles may contact the front tire. This contact could cause a hole to develop in the front brake line, allowing brake fluid to leak. This condition might cause an ineffective front brake and lead to a crash, which could result in injury or death of the rider. We have voluntarily declared this a defect related to motor vehicle safety (Campaign 0839) to allow us to formally recall all affected motorcycles. The remedy for this defect is to inspect the front brake line and, if undamaged, install a guide on the line. If the line is damaged, it will be replaced and re-routed using the 2010 model year style brake line. Once the bulletin is released, I'll get that up ASAP. Chris |

They've expanded this to XB12Ss models built within a certain date range. |

It just re routes the brake line around the outside of the front fork. |

It says "install a guide on the line", that might be different from the previous recall, I don't see reroute mentioned. |

I haven't done my recall, and it looks fine. I will be changing the line with a black one, and I'll route is on the outside just in case.

I recommend routing on the outside too, shortly before the recall was initiated my line contacted the tire and rubbed through. |
