I'm not sure if it's the young man I met last year but we just lost another Bueller. Conflicting reports make it impossible to know what happened. I do know that it was an black xb12r and that he went through an intersection and t-boned a car turning left. rider down news video Read some of the comments, no one knows what really happened. So Sad |

Wow, really sad. As motorcyclists we must accept the risks involved with bikes. Ride safe, scan the road, anticipate, stay alive people. My sympathy to the family of the downed rider. BTW- did you catch the license plates. |

Seems clear to me what happened: Car driver has right of way on a protected green. Motorcyclists neglects to yield the right of way and runs the red light. The car driver is VERY fortunate that they didn't die in this accident. Similar thing happened to a buddy of mine in High School. |

With Atlanta traffic I see this scenario a lot. Both directions' light is turning red, oncoming car is hoping that the opposing vehicle is going to stop so that they can turn left just as the light turns red, so they won't have to sit through another light. Well, he was going to fast, and both cars anticipated the other to stop. Well, neither did, and neither had the right of way. (Message edited by jeffroj on September 09, 2009) |

The CAR was in the intersection waiting to turn left. Light turned red which means that the CAR in intersection has right of way. Motorcycle ran through the already red light - clearly a violation of not yielding the right of way. From article: "The light turned red while the car was still in the intersection, and as the car was turning left to clear the intersection, a motorcyclist heading south ran the red and slammed into the car" Riders fault... no question. Sorry it happened, but if you fail to yield the right of way to a vehicle that weighs 5 times more than you... RIP Hopefully WE ALL learn that aggressive riding / speeding on public roads is not the way to give a good image of motorcyclists. And hence, we all become victims. A tragic but completely PREVENTABLE accident. Just because you have the money to have a motorcycle doesn't mean you have the discipline to ride one. |

Two more downed here, not Buells, but sad just the same. A 77 year old died after a week in hospital. Sounds like he was following too close and rear ended a lane changer. An 18 year old racing down the seniors area ran into a left turning car. Too fast and too silly, he's in hospital with serious injuries. Be careful out there. Rossi goes faster because everyone is going the same direction and they all care to finish. We don't have that on the street. |

My wife and I were returning from a trip to Michigan's UP. Riding down the express way at 70 MPH in the right hand lane when the van in front of me slammed on her brakes. The person merging did not speed up to merge and the van was not paying attention or did not know how to drive, maybe both. Stopping was not a problem for me but one must keep an eye in the mirror at the same time to make sure the guy behind is not asleep. The moral of the story is not to follow to close and always watch two or three cars ahead. This is one of a few close call on the return trip. There are a lot of distracted and bad drivers out there. |

I nearly got "it" last night making the infamous left. Mini-van nearly took me from my family (coming from behind me). Be careful out there. |
