Salvage title kills the value. I paid less for my 05 2 years ago with a clean title. Also stock bikes are easier to sell. |

I have seen a couple 07's go locally for low 4k's lately with a clear title. |

My bank wont even finance a bike with a salvage title. That could be another problem. |

either eBay it or part it, one guy on here was going to part his 06 xb9 and got a huge response in the parts section. but he changed his mind last minute on a lot of us (myself included, I wanted a belt drive) an I am sure that those guys would buy those same parts for you if you offered them up. if you do Ill take the belt drive, If not no worries Ill order a free spirits tensioner from Trojan edit: I think there is a good chance you will make more money in parts. I paid $6,800 ($7,090 shipped) for my salvaged '08 XB12SS. I found and purchased it off of eBay. Had it shipped from Montana to Virginia Beach. Just have to wait for the right person to come along. |

Well think about this, insurance company would have to replace the jug that was damaged. I don't have a part number for that, but I am sure the labor on it is at least 20 times the cost of the part, and that was assuming no other damage to the bike. Several thousand dollar estimate later = totaled bike, even though the damage may only be minor and cosmetic. |

Yeah, part that sucker out. Badwebbers are like piranhas when it comes to parts... usually there's a feeding frenzy. ~SM |

STOP IT! Just ride it. How much would you pay for it knowing the service history, etc.? It must be worth more to you than what the market is baring. |

I agree. You aren't gonna get what it's worth to you out of it so you should just keep it and ride the shit out of it. |

You are probably getting close to the bad time to sell a bike. It will probably be easier to sell it in the Spring. |

Patience is key. I just sold both my Blast and my Firebolt over the last month. The salvage title would be a deal-breaker for me, personally. I don't care what the damage actually was. Figure out what the minimum is that it's worth to you, and stick to it. If you don't get takers it wasn't meant to be. ...probably helps that I didn't NEED to sell the bikes, so I could in good conscience tell people who wouldn't meet my price to walk. |

that is a good point, NEED. many people are hurting for money right now, motorcycles are going up for sale left and right. so the market is becoming saturated and prices are dropping. if you don't need to sell it hang on to it for now. if you do than figure out what you NEED out of it and don't budge from that number. put out a parts feeler in the for sale section as a last resort and total up what that comes to as well, and see where you are best off. |

Besides a small dirtbike from when I was a kid, my XB9R is my first bike. It's paid for and I'll probably never sell it. I want to be that grandpa that pulls out his 50 year old ride and gives it to his grandson. (Long ways down the road.) Sorry, off-track. |

Salvage for a broken cooling fin? Doesn't pass the smell test. Unless you can find the truth about it, it won't go for more than $3500. Funny how some folks advertise their bikes. Perception of the mind plays a huge factor in generating market interest. Try $4,995 instead of $5,000 for instance. |

As far as asking price, without a valid reason behind the salvage title, I'd say somewhere around $3,500. |

Yea Blake I was thinking the same thing. Its possible it had some other damage like forks and a rim, but those were fixed. |

Rule of thumb for salvage title is half of the retail price so $3,500 sounds about right. Probably even less cause of the amount of miles on it. 8,500 miles is high for a 2007 based on NADA. |

Wasn't there someone on here selling a similar bike for like $3500 and couldn't sell it so he parted it out? |

8500 miles is high for an 07? My 08 has 16k, and I haven't ridden it since November last year. |

Ghost- It's high miles based on NADA. Every motorcycle has a different class that it fits in which determines what they deem as appropriate mileage for pricing. It's always lower than what you would expect. My 04 with 8300 is high. It's not an opinion thing, it's a dealer pricing thing. |

I picked up an 06 with like three thousand miles on it in a blue city bike XB9 for around 4,500 good title and in mint condition so they just don't quite bring that kind of coin. That was in Illinois up around Quincy and all I have done is put in a set of plugs did the oils and ride ride ride. I love the little bike and figure I got it for a steal of a deal. No regrets on my little buell. |
