Does anybody know the torque specs for the front rotor bolts?

Having a vibration under hard braking, has anybody had this problem?

25-27 ft lbs.

The vibration can be caused by residue from the stock brake pads. Try sanding the rotor with 200 grit sandpaper. You don't need to remove the rotor to do this.

I would also check that the rotor "floats" properly at it's attachment points.

Call American sport bike and order a set of Lyndall gold brake pads. Mine was doing the same thing and this fixed it. They are worth every penny.

do a board search for pulsing or pulsating rotor or brakes. the problem is most often caused by a rider who sits at stop lights with the front brake clamped down- this traps the brake dust and creates deposits on the rotor that cause the pulsing. so try sanding them down, then try using your rear brake to hold you at stops and see if it stays smoooth!

Ok, say i wanted to take the entire front wheel apart (rotor off rim) to clean everything and rough up the rotor a bit while i'm at it (got the pulsing problem). In the service manual it says to put NEW springs, NEW washers, and NEW drive bushings. Do you REALLY have to put NEW everything or can i just use the old one's but clean them up a bit (i know they are COVERED in brake dust)?

Faulty springs will give you the "click" during braking. Personally, I'd change them and the bushings. I'm really not sure the problems the "click" will cause but.....
1. It's noisy
2. It doesn't feel right
3. Brake failure sucks

Up to you but I'd definitely drop in new parts.

Thank you all for your technical information. After reading, i came to the decision to replace the bolts, springs and bushings. I just replace my brake pads last year and are still about 50=60%

I have 17k miles on my XB12R, I have done 2 track days and lots of hard riding. I measure the rotors and is still under specs. Check for warp rotor all o.k. Check the wheel all o.k. The tires are new.

Thank you for all your help, I will update you all with the outcome.

I have two race XBR's and they don't use any spring at all. Talk about float.
