I just finished putting the last piece on my yellow '03 XB9S. All I can say is......cool.  My mods are listed below. -Buell Race Kit (w/polished can and XB12 lid) -JetHot sterling coated header -Buell airbox trim (buckle guard) -Buell chrome heel protectors -Buell diamond highlighted sprocket (polished rear pulley) -Buell Streetfighter tail bag -Chrome bar ends -Turn signal spacers removed (front and rear) -Rear foot pegs removed -100 watt blue high beam/55 watt blue low beam I'm really happy with the minor mods I've done and this is probably my favorite bike of all time. I also own a 2001 Ducati 748S, but the Buell is more fun on the street at mostly legal speeds.  It's a Dorothy bangin', Auntie Em teasin', Toto kickin', Wicked Witch slappin' hot rod of a bike that's just out lookin' for a fight. Know what I mean? Mark  Never Give Up! | ||

Have you thought about putting bar end mirrors on? I did and the Lightning looks awesome with them. | ||

I got the bulbs from Recreational Leisure in Farmington Hills, MI. They are an excellent motorcycle accessory shop. You could find them anywhere though. When the weather improves, I'll get some pictures outside and post them. Thanks for the mirror suggestion, but I think I'll keep them stock for now. Ride safe all. Just a word of warning, I fitted some higher rated Xenon headlight bulbs to my 9s,and the plastic lenses started to go cloudy very quickly after a period of useage + the block connector on the rear of the bulb started to melt (bigtime) OOOpppsss  | ||

Agreed. With plastic reflectors we can't simply throw high watt bulbs in there anymore. If you want more light I suggest building a wire harness out of 8 or 10 gauge wire with a relay that comes directly off the battery. This way you avoid going through the headlight switch and its tiny wires. Generally this gives you about a 20%-30% increase in light simply from using lower resistance wiring--and no increase in electrical load. Nice work, however. I'm jealous. | ||

I have the PIAA crystal ion (yellowish) bulbs on my XB9S. I'm not sure what wattage they are but I think they're more than OEM. I don't have any problems at all. To top it off, I wired my lights so both headlights are on all of the time. I ran it like this all summer. I paid very close attention to possible melting of the plastic. None yet. | ||
